Aruba suggestions

So we're less than 2 weeks away from our honeymoon and we are going to Aruba. Does anyone have suggestions on where to eat and what to do. We know we want to rent a Jeep and go 4 wheeling. We are staying at the Radisson.

Thanks so much in advance!! Any help would be appreciated!!

Re: Aruba suggestions

we were in Aruba 2 months ago. There are millions of great places to eat. You MUST go on the tour called the Kukookunuku Bus. Its a bar hopping tour at night and they give you dinner. IT was def a blast !!!! As for restaurants, try Flying Fishbone- the tables are right on the sand!, La Trattoria - an italian restaurant up by the lighthouse, El Gaucho- great steakhouse, and you MUST go to Carlos & Charlies!!! It is a restuarant/bar/club. Great mexican food and the atmosphere is great, try going there on a Friday or Saturday though. Have fun !

We were in Aruba in July, it is actually where he proposed, but anyway, Oh, I definitely agree El Gaucho Steak house is great, also Simply Fish it is in the Mariott and is right on the beach literally your feet are in the sand and everything... Also look into doing a dinner cruise - you cruise aroundand then they dock someehwere you have dinner at alovely restaurant and some dancing and then you get back onto the boat. It was a fairly great price as well because it was all inclusive with cocktails..

Definitely go to the Soprano Piano Bar we were there like every night..

Hope this helps..have fun

Re: Aruba suggestions

Just got back from Aruba last night....

I can not recommend more this brand new restaurant that has been open for about 4 mos now...Screaming Eagle. It is owned by the same group who owns Flying Fishbone and Le Dome which are 2 of Aruba's top restaurants.

The Screaming Eagle has a NYC / South Beach feeling to it. Just something different for Aruba. There are white drapes hanging everywhere...and beds in the lounge area. They offer you to have your dinner 'in bed' but we opted to eat at our table and take dessert to 'bed'. It was such a great place...the food and service and ambiance was just great. It was the best meal of the trip...the food was amazing! You can make reservations in advance through their website which I recommend doing. You can sit outside which is on a deck/patio that is pretty but sort of overlooks a main road so we ate inside which we really enjoyed. It was the only meal of our entire trip where we sat inside. I took some pics...will put them online tonight and post them here tomorrow. In the meantime...make your reservation!

This website is also very helpful - lists all the restaurants in Aruba and gives user reviews!
Aruba Dining Guide

Oh and if you like steak...you have one of the best steakhouses right there in your hotel...Sunset Grille at the Radisson - food was amazing. You MUST get the Martini Salad - best salad I ever ate!!! Honestly this El Gaucho that everyone recommends no offense is nothing more than a chain steak restaurant. I don't recommend.

Flying Fishbone looks and sounds amazing but it's a $25 cab ride from your hotel each way. It wasn't worth the $50 to us in cab fare so we ate at this place called Sunset Beach Bistro which was right on the beach...table in the sand. It was very reasonably priced and we really enjoyed it. It's at the Aruba Divi Pheonix Resort.

Congrats and enjoy your honeymoon!

We just got back from Aruba 2 months ago - its where he proposed actually :)

We loved La Trattoria (thats where the proposal took place b/c it's his fave restaurant - its outdoors where you can watch the sunset, but its on a patio and not ON the beach, which he prefers). We also enjoy The Flying Fishbone, Passions (both outdoors ON the beach), El Gaucho is the best steak we've ever had!

You really should go ATVing, especially on the tour that goes to the Natural Pool (you can only get there by ATV or horse, that's how rough the terrain is). It's a sight to see, though, and they give you time to swim in it :)

HTH - you'll have a blast!

You must go to Gianni's across the street from the Radisson. Also, The Soprano's Piano Bar was so fun! (its right there too)

KandE, where exactly is the Screaming Eagle? I've been reading about it online but am unclear on where exactly it is...do you know if it's near the low-rises?

Sorry to jump in, but where did all of you stay in Aruba? We are thinking of going there, but are lost. We don't want to rent a jeep/car, but rather stay on the beach, do water activites and hang out at the resort. In your opinions, is Aruba a good place for this kind of a thing or are the beaches too crowded and is it more of an 'exploration' honeymoon.

We stayed at the Radisson. They were great!!
We did excursions, beach and pool. We did waverunners, we did a Seawrold explorer tour where they show you a shipwreck and coral reef. We also did rent a Jeep through Avis for 1 day and toured the island by ourselves.
We also did the ATV tour. You really do no have to rent a car, the buses and taxis are always available.
That was so much fun! In between all these activities which basically only last 2-3 hours, we hung by the pool and went to the beach!
Aruba is awesome for adventure or for just hanging around or casino hopping. You can really do everything or just a few. There is so much to do and see. It all depends on what you like. I highly recommend Aruba!!
