Sorry to vent but I just found out my company does not pay me for maternity leave.. They can buy buildings like its going out of style but can't pay a woman when she is having a baby..

umm, that's against the law I think.
they don't even pay you for some of your leave?

well, they technically do not have to pay your for leave, but they do grant you 12 weeks FMLA leave without jeopardizing your position. That is the law. The law does not state that they have to pay you for the leave. Most places do not pay you for leave and you typically have to take accrued leave time! Sorry for the additional stress!

Can't she file for NYS Disability? I thought they were the only ones to pay for Maternity Leave.

have you gotten supplemental long term disability service like aflack?
do you have an HR department? talk to them if so, b/c its definately discrimination if you aren't paid for maternity leave.

That stinks! They do not have to pay you but you can go on disability through the state. It's not much but it could help a little bit. What company do you work for?

NY State short term disability is $170 per week taxed. I'm sorry you didn't know that your company didn't pay before now. It stinks but is the case in a lot of places.
