Asking your MOH

Asking your MOH

So I got engaged last month and wanted to wait a little bit before I asked my MOH, even though I knew all along who it would be. I think she has sort of an idea as I told her we need to get together bc I want to ask her something, plus my family has been nagging me non stop if I I asked her yet. So we were supposed to get together last week but both times she got stuck at work late and the other days I was busy. So I talked to her for a few hours on the phone a few nights ago and we said we would get together after work tonight and this is when I planned on asking her. So now today no responses from her but last night she called but I was sleeping. I would really like to ask in person, and defentially before my engagement party in June. I'm thinking it just makes sense to get it over with and ask her over the phone. Anyone ask their BP this way?

Re: Asking your MOH

My MOH's are my sisters, so they kind of just knew. I didn't officially ask

But for two of my BM's, I asked them over the phone. I wanted to do it in person, but I just couldn't wait. I don't see them all of the time, and I didn't know when the next time I'd see them would be. Besides, one happened to be in Italy when I got engaged so I HAD to do it over the phone. The other, we're best friends since like 1st grade, but I only see her once every few months or so, and I stink at keeping secrets so I just surprised her one day over the phone.

It's totally up to you how you'd like to do it, but I wouldn't completely rule out asking over the phone.

I am going to ask my MOH in person...I asked two people already to be in my bridal party in person, I think it just makes it a bit more special and also more personal than asking over the phone...

My sister already pretty much knew it was going to be her, but I actually sent her flowers to work with a really pretty 'Will you be my maid of honor?' card, and wrote something special inside. She loved it and balled lol.

all of my girls are from out of town and i just asked them over the phone. i didnt want to make a big deal of it and they were happy with any way i probably would have done it. so either wait to ask her in person if thats you or ask over the phone, i dont see a problem with it and i dont find it any less personal

I asked my MOH two weeks ago. I went to visit her at her job.(she and I used to work together many years ago) Her daughter is also one of my flower girls so I bought a card for her and her daughter.

I was happy she said yes, I was kinda worried she might say no.

I originally planned to ask her in person, but she's busy planning her own wedding so we don't really have time to see each other. So I just ended up asking her in an email. Then I decided I wanted 2 MOH's so I asked my cousin in an email also, because I didn't know when I would get to see her alone. Neither of them were upset at how I asked them, they were just excited that I asked.

But it would be nicer to ask your MOH in person.

i think i asked my sister to be my MOH within 1 week of our engagement. i knew i would be depending on her a lot during the whole planning process so I asked her right away.

i think your MOH is an extremely important person & that you should try to stay away from asking her over the phone.

I am giving them bridesmaid cards.

I only asked one girl so far, going to ask 2 more soon, then i'm going to wait for the others cuz i want FH to ask his guys too around the same time (the 3 i'm asking now don't know anyone else so i figured it was ok).

I think if you cant ask in person, that this is a very sweet way to do it.

I plan to ask everyone in person. Ive asked my MOH and 2 BM officially, and 2 unofficially, and 3 more to go.

I don't think there is necessarily anything wrong with asking over the phone or sending a note in the mail. I do think it's 'nicer' to be able to ask in person, so maybe try a few more times to meet up, and if you can't try over the phone or in a handwritten note or something.

Three of my BMs live in PA and one lives in FL and one I rarely see, so I HAD to ask a few over the phone.

Well My best friend has been my best friend since we were in fist grade so I think she probally knew but I just wrote out a little card which talked about friendship, I wrote a note about us and all the years we've had together and said 'will you be my maid of honor?' We both cried!

If you can hold off, I would definitely wait to ask her in person. I had my MOH over for dinner with her husband and kids (who are our ring bearer & flower girl). I called her into a different room and gave her a card and a little gift. Her reaction was priceless.

I really don't think I matters...especially since so much effort was made on both your parts. Yes, it will be special to do it in person... but it isn't necessary...unless you plan on giving her a gift when you ask. I've been asked over the phone once. It was still exciting and special. We celebrated as soon as we saw eachother.

Re: Asking your MOH

My sis is my MOH so she new she was prior to me getting engaged. But I did ask all my BM's over the phone however, they all knew they were going to be one so it was more of confirmation.
I see no problems with asking your friend via phone and still try to meet this weekend and celebrate together.
