Anyone know of any good places in Astoria for a rehearsal dinner? I want to keep it very casual. I have a place in mind, but thought I'd ask you all for your thoughts. Thanks!

Re: Astoria Rehearsal Dinner?
There's tons of Greek restaurants that would work, Stamatis has a private room in the back & Telly's Taverna which is right across the street & in my opinion has much better food would probably be fine also.

What type of food are you looking for. I live in Astoria so I can come up with a few places if you let me know what type of cuisine your are interested in having.

I live in Astoria too...but I'm having a hard time deciding. I don't want Greek. I want to keep it extremely casual...but still somewhat nice. I live close to Central...I may contact them to see if they can accomodate us (I have never been there but I think it is supposed to be pretty cool).

I was going to say Trattoria L' incontro as well. I believe they opened that 2nd room where they can hold parties- thier food is delicious.
I also heard Cavo is a very cool place ( but never been after all these yers in Astoria)

Cavo's pretty, but I wasn't happy with the service or the food and won't go back.
Ponticello's is another great Italian restaurant in Astoria. I'm going to dinner tonight at Christo's Steakhouse -- I'll report back tomorrow if you're interested.

Try Renaissance Restaurant Is doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's really nice on the inside. One of my girlfriends used it for her rehearsal dinner and everyone was impressed.

I heard Christo's is fantastic! Please update us tomorrow. My FH is a vegetarian though...so I don't think that would work for me, but would still love to hear how you liked it. Isn't there some new place that has a big outdoor space in the back? I forget the name....I'll go search the web.

Both Cavo and Central have great food and management is really nice. You may want to speak to them and ask what they can do for you if you are having a big party.

Sapori D' Ischia 55-15 37th Ave. (56th St.)Queens (718) 446-1500
Awesome Italian Food!!!! They also have a section to shop at (wholesale prices) just in case you want to make the same dishes at home! Place is small, but may be able to accommodate.

My dinner at Christo's was wonderful! It's no place for vegetarians, though.
Food and service were great and the decor was very cozy. And, they're in an area of Astoria where parking isn't a nightmare, and they also offer valet parking.
