at what age do you think it is STARTING to get late to start having your first baby?

I think after 40 is REALLY risking it, but women do it. FH is a 3rd year resident and right now he's doing his rotation at the Neo-natal ICU (NICU) and he sees tons of babies that are really unhealthy. Sad

i personally would say late 30's early 40's...only bc of health issues. my aunt was 38 when she had my cousin and had a few problems.

they say as long as ur under 35 theres really no major risks. we'll proabably start trying when i'm 27/28.

I think that it depends on the person.

My girlfriend would not CONSIDER having children after she turned 30. She had 4 kids betwwen the ages of 25 and 29 and that worked for her. She wants to spend her 'golden years' retired with her husband, not 'paying tuition bills' as she puts it. She planned it so that her youngest would turn 21 when she turned 50. She feels that she has an advantage being a young mother in that she can not be too far behind the 8 ball with current trends and fashions.

I - on the other hand - was nowhere near emotionally ready to have kids until I was beyond 30. I had my first child at 31. At 37 (almost 38) I feel that I am healthy enough and strong enough to have another child in the next couple of years. I PERSONALLY will not attempt to have any more babies after I am 40.

My sister actually had her youngest at 43 and he was healthy and perfect. My mother had me at 36 and my sister at 38 - as far I can tell there are few abnormalities!

DF and I decided no kids after 33. That way when our kids are 20, we will be 53 and can still enjoy our 'adult' years

I would say around 40. They do say that after 35, the risk of complications are higher but that is all a preference too. My aunt started having her kids at 35 and she had no issues, but it is all up to the couple at what age they want/don't want to have kids.

woah..im freaking out that im almost 22 and dont have children..me and FH decided to start trying that night..we have lived together for 2 years and really have nothing to look forward to after the wedding so were having children right away

from a medical standpoint 35 and older is considered high risk.

They say there are a lot of risks when you get into your mid to late forties. So I guess mid forties because it could be dangerous for the mom and for the baby.

they always say anyone over 35 is at more risk. But more and more women today are waiting till there late 30's and even 40's to have kids. But I think more into your 40's is alot higher risk.

you just need to get your amniotic fluid tested..there are more risks..but its being done more and more
