At what age is a dog an adult?

My puppy is three months but I was wondering when she will be considered an adult dog?

I always thought it was after a year or two.

I thought a dog is considered a puppy until about 2 years old - at least that what everyone with a Rottweiler tells me! I don't know if it varies depending on what type of dog you have, but 2 years seems about right for a dog to be considered an adult. I am really looking forward to my little Golem getting past his current teething-terrible toddler phase!

Usually large breeds are considered pups till about 2 yrs and small breeds usually at 1yr.

gNi.. you took the words right from my..... fingers?! lol.... its weird though, b/c big dogs generally live shorter lives but they stay a puppy for longer. odd.

toy breeds switch to adult food at 1 yr

Small dogs at a year and big dogs at 2 years because the different nutritional needs. Large dogs need more protein after 1 year than small dogs.
