At what week did your dr tell you to start counting the kicks?

Sometimes this baby is so active and then I can go for hours without feeling anything... I'm only in my 21st week....

Mine never told me to. He just asked me at each appt if I felt the baby moving everyday.

Same here.

You're way too early to be counting though. Right now you'll only feel the baby occasionally. That's normal as long as you're feeling it every now and then I wouldn't be too concerned. Try drinking a really cold glass of water and see if that gets the baby moving.

I'm at the same point as you and sometimes I feel the baby moving alot other times not. I read in one of my books though at that this point the baby can move a certain way making it not as easy to feel it moving.

I think at week 28 they ask you to start counting, but for now, I think you just want to make sure you feel the baby a few times per day.

Well, that's reassuring...thanks! Sometimes it is SO active that I can see it on the outside and then I'll go for hours and not see or feel anything...I know it's early... I guess this is how it'll be for the rest of our lives, huh?? Constant worrying about whether the kid is ok!!

Yes, constant worrying, sometimes it rules my day. I alwasy say that it is so much easier having them contained in your belly so you can try to protect them, once they come out, there are so many other elements to worry about.

I was never told anything about counting kicks....

I'm 27 weeks tomorrow and my baby STILL has very quiet days that freak me out. But - my doctor said as long as I feel her a couple of times a day all is well.

I never counted -- that would have made me so neurotic! My doctor also just asked if I felt the baby moving in general, and whether it seemed the same as usual...

there was a point that I didn't feel the baby for an entire day and I freaked out I went to the dr. and they hooked me up to a machine to count the movments but the baby wasn't moving so he had this little instrament that he put on my stomache and it made the baby move but everything was fine.
