Re: Atkins??

I really wouldn't recommend it. At least from my own experience, I feel as if it had some detrimental long term affects. Before Atkins, I liked my dessert now and then, but after Atkins, I have been a hound for sweets. It's possible something else caused this, but I tend to think that deprevation made me crave sweets more than ever.

I don't think it's a healthy diet, and I wouldn't recommend it for long-term weight loss. It's too difficult to maintain IMO. You will lose weight, but as soon as you go off the diet, you'll gain some of it back.

I'd suggest looking for something that incorporates some of the ideas, but is not as hard core. My mother is on a diabetic diet, and I'm actually trying to follow some of her restrictions myself on a lesser scale. She's allowed some white flour products and sweets, but all in moderation. Much healthier long term.

I've been on Atkins for almost 7 months. I've lost 35lbs. I love it. The thing is that it's not a diet, you have to change the way you eat forever. I did the Induction phase for around 2 months. Then I progressed onto the next 3 phases. Now I am on Lifetime maintenance. And I have bread, rice, potato, and other carbs sometimes. If you have a slice of cake or something you just have to eat carefully for a few days after. But 95% of the time I don't eat any white flour or sugar. And I don't plan to ever again. Like I said one piece of cake at a birthday party or holiday is fine, but don't make it a habit. And you can only eat those things after Induction, you can not cheat on Induction or it won't work. Also you need to buy the book to assure that you are doing it correctly. With Atkins you can reach and maintain your ideal weight, but you can NEVER go back to your old style of eating or you will gain all of your weight back. Good Luck.

I did it a few years ago- it worked great- until I ate bread

I think it works great short term, but as far as long term maintaince- I think you are better off doing something more maintainable in the real world

FM me if you want my diet plan

Atkins will definitely work for short term weight loss. But if you want to eat carbs again you'll gain the weight back and then some. Ive gone on Atkins before and its always the case, I cant stay away from carbs for more than 2 or 3 weeks.

Try South Beach, its a much healthier alternative.
