atlantic city

all of a sudden my fh thinks he is a gambler and wants to take a trip to atlantic city. neither of us have ever been there. i figured i would throw this out to you guys for some help. can any one recommend a place to stay thats not seedy? i looked in to the taj mahal but it is not available for the weekend we are looking at. also, would ct be a better choice? foxwoods? i dont know any advice is appreciated.

I LOVE Atlantic City and have stayed overnight on many occasions. We stay at Caesar's. There rooms are very pretty and not that expensive. I did not like Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun that musch b/c there was not too many places to go. it's one huge bulding and that's it. With Atlantic City if yiu don't like one casino you move on to the next. They even have a little fair that is always up. It's alot of fun if you plan it right. Good Luck.

I have never stayed there - but FREQUENT IT REGULARLY!

I would probably stay at Caesar's or Bally's. I think it's Bally's that has the Wild West Casino - and in the main Bally's is a pretty decent steak place. AC is kind of seedy though. I would prefer to stay at Mohegan Sun I think - even though there is less to do - the restaurants are great and the atmosphere is IMO a lot nicer. They have this 'Wolf Den' that has great concerts - the bars are nice and there is tons of shopping!

Hi, it's been a while since I've been to AC...I worked down there!! I had a LOT of fun, but have to admit that some of my friends didn't like it.

Unless something has radically changed, the city itself is, sadly, pretty seedy. I wouldn't go walking around off the boardwalk at night. Just stay where the crowds are.

I prefer to stay at the casino hotels (Taj is my favorite, but you said it's booked). There's also a Holiday Inn and a Hilton on the boardwalk. About five minutes away is the Farley marina where Trump Castle and Harrah's are located-you can take a jitney from the marina to the boardwalk casinos.

You'll get the best deals Sunday night through Thursday night. Also, the higher up the room, the more $$$$. See if you can bid on Priceline.

I didn't really like Foxwoods-only went there on day trips. We always end up having to park miles away and take a shuttle-what a pain. I also didn't like not being able to go from casino to casino. My FBIL is going up to Mohegan Sun in a few weeks-his friends love it there. I've not yet been there.

Yeah, AC as a whole is pretty seedy.. dont walk around on the boardwalk or in anywhere else for that matter after dark... stay in the casinos.. during the day is fine.. lots of people, shopping, etc.

I go to AC quite often and I love it there, its a little cheesy, but so much fun!! If the taj is booked, (which is where i usually stay) you can check out the Sherraton. Its maybe 5 mins away and they usually have really good weekend deals. Usually about $120 or so for one or two nights with a free b'fast.(not sure when you are going)

CT is okay, but its further away, its a hassle to go from casion to casino and to stay over I've heard is more $$ than AC....

My FH and I prefer Cesars and the Sands. We usually do quite well there.

I also like Foxwoods. It's very pretty up there. We stayed in a hotel about 5 miles away. The shuttle is a bit of a pain, but we still had fun.

I've spent way too much time there. My favorite is Trump Plaza. The Trop is nice, so is the Sands. Last tie I stayed at the Showboat and wasn't thrilled.

stay at caesars or ballys...these are 2 of the nicest places there...you will have a LOT of fun!!!!

We love taking trips to Atlantic City. You should see a comedy show while you're there. They're usually good and it breaks up the time from gambling.
