Atlantic City

Atlantic City

I've never been and want to take FH for a weekend in September (he is super stressed with work). I don't want to spend a ton of money, but would like to stay somewhere nice... I thought about Foxwoods, but their rooms are on the pricey side, and I heard AC was fun...

Any suggestions?

You can't stay at a casino for less than $250-$300 a night. There are plenty of nice places in the area, if you are willing to drive 10-20 minutes to get to AC.

If so, I can get a bunch of places for you that are nice and not too pricey.

Tropicana runs specials. Check their site. Sometimes they have a room, giftcard, comedy show package. I'm not sure about weekends, but we have stayed during the week for $70/night.

It's a really fun place. There are cool restaurants and shops all right there.

we usually stay at bally's and the room prices are pretty decent and it's a nice hotel.. plus u can then go and party at any other casino you want cause they are all pretty close!

That is the reason i didn't do foxwoods... I guess it is better to stay in the casino... I'll have to do my homework. any reccomendations?

Yeah, that is only for during the week, Sunday - Thursday.

Hmm.. We go all the time. You can check their specials. During the week is usually a lot less. Tropicana and showboat are nice and somewhat cheaper. The Borgata is gorgeous, but expensive

Well, I have stayed at the Tropicana, Harrah's, Showboat, Bally's, Trump Taj and somewhere else... I can't remember right now!

Tropicana is a great place to stay, you don't even have to leave!

Showboat is nice also, and connects to the Taj, so, between the two, there is plenty to do.

Taj is okay, it was a long time ago that I stayed there.

Bally's was nice too, but not much going on there.

There is a Holiday Inn (I believe) right outside of the Trop. their prices aren't quite as high, a Saturday night will probably cost you about $200.

Other than that, on the strip, there isn't much.

There is a BEAUTIFUL golf Marriott resort that FH and I stayed at once, it was about 20 minutes away, but, gorgeous, victorian.. etc. We loved it.....

It's hard to tell you what the exact prices will be, because if I look them up, it will reflect my discount..... if you go to harrahs website, you can get prices and compare between them, showboat, ballys and caesars, they're all one owner and connected.

If you blow a lot of money at the tables they'll comp your room!

I just did a search without logging into my acct.

Of the 4 Harrah's casinos, on the weekend of 9/21 (I just picked a random weekend) Harrah's is the cheapest at $558 for 2 nights.

Re: Atlantic City

Tropicana is $650, same weekend.... and slightly cheaper the weekend before.

Yeah, nothing is going to be less than about that $550ish rate.

There is no casino with Royal in the name. Was it Royal Suites at Atlantic Palace? That is on the strip, but not a casino. My friend stayed there for her bachelorette party, it seemed okay, I didn't stay there, I was just with them when they were getting ready in the room.

I'm telling you from experience, the summer is the most expensive time to go to AC, and the casinos don't discount, they don't need to. In September, it will be cheaper than the summer, but, the prices are still a little bit higher because it is still really busy there. The only discounts they offer are for high rollers. You might be able to find something for $200 a night, maybe, if you really do your research..... you won't generally find better prices through the casinos themselves, try discount websites, and then if you get a better price than you find on the casinos website, call the casino and tell them, they will generally honor that price. And having AAA helps, if you have it.

FH's parents go to the Borgota, but only b/c they get free rooms. They went w/ friends who didn't have a free room and it was $400/night for a basic room
