Atlantic City

Original post by yelley77

I've never been and want to take FH for a weekend in September (he is super stressed with work). I don't want to spend a ton of money, but would like to stay somewhere nice... I thought about Foxwoods, but their rooms are on the pricey side, and I heard AC was fun...

Any suggestions?

I had booked a trip to AC in June for the Tropicana from a sunday to a monday and it was $150 for the night. We didnt get to go but their hotel looks realllly nice and a great price.

Yeah, that is only for during the week, Sunday - Thursday.

Yeah- thats what I figured. It was also Feb. Yup- they lower the price when no one wants to go there- lol

Trop is like $375 and up for a weekend and The Holiday Inn next door to them i still $279.

This is why we go on the weekdays. I know it's not easy for everyone depending on their job. FH works weekend so weekdays work best for us.

P.S. It's cheaper to go to Vegas, Danielle!

I took Joey to Vegas for his birthday last Novemeber and didn't pay $600 for 5 nights!!! lol. It's hard when you want to get away for the weekend, and just not spend a lot of money...

Perhaps I should think about something else... when you add food and gambling to that, it isn't a cheap weekend... don't these people know that we are trying to save for a freakin' wedding?!?!?!

Hmm.... not really. lol. I went once a few years ago and loved it. I bet if you go to citiguide, or even trip advisor you can get better info!

We went to Cheers, which was fun..... not sure if Joey is into baseball, but Fenway Park is supposed to be amazing..... FH just said it is tough to get tickets in Sept. though.....

There is a lot of historical stuff to do....

Tropicana is great we go every few months, we get free nights. Call them up and ask if the can give you a free night or a discount, make sure you add that you are planning to spend some money on your trip .
Make sure you get a Diamond club card so they send you stuff in the mail.

Re: Atlantic City

Boston is definately fun but also very expensive. I used to live up there and its rough to find something priced well within the city.

AC is fun....definately a good trip for like no more then two nights. Tropicana is very nice but also huge and sometimes overwhelming. Caesars is amazing....they have the new mall attached to it and the lobby is gorgeous. They also expanded their casino floor. The Hilton is nice as well its at the end of the boardwalk but more low key. Bally's is also nice and its connected to Caesars so you have access to both places from within. I have also stayed at Showboat. This one was nice with the New Orleans feel but the casino floor wasn't too big.

All of them are very expensive during the summer especially on weekends. Some you can get for about $90 - $100 per night during the week. The only good thing is after your first trip their you will get tons of comps and free nights to come back at most of the hotels.

I have been to bally's, resorts, taj mahal and tropicana.

I def would suggest the tropicana....there is sooo much there and its really nice. pricing no matter where u stay in AC from may-sept is pricey on the weekends..but during the week u can def get a cheaper room. I wouldnt suggest resorts, it wasnt that nice, def wasnt worth the money.

I am actually going to foxwoods friday....let you know how that is

AC is fun! I've only stayed at the Borgata, but that is only b/c somehow I keep getting free rooms! I've heard the Tropicana is nice too. Try registering online for their cards b/c that is all I did a few months back and all of a sudden I got things in the mail from Borgata and then I got comps for free rooms (only during the week though!)

Boston is wicked fun (as new englanders would say)! I used to live there. So if you have any questions let me know!! Hotels aren't the cheapest there though. You might want to stay about 10 minutes outside the city for a better rate, but transportation is easy to get. Good luck!!

Sorry to confuse you!! Unfortunately nothing is cheap these days!

Have you thought about Mystic, CT? The hotels there aren't too expensive, you can go to the Mystic Aquarium and walk around the little town and Mohegan Sun is only like 20 minutes away. FH and I did that last year for 2 nights. It's wasn't too expensive and it was fun and different!
