Atlantis Aquarium Review

Hi! I went to my friend's wedding last night at the Atlantis Aquarium and I wanted to check back with you girls and let you know how it went. Before you read this remember...This is MY opinion, MY perspective, and it DOES NOT mean I did not have a great time because I did. I hope this helps if any of you are having you wedding there or are thinking about it.

Cocktail Hour:

This was outside in the back part of the aquarium. It was a beautiful day and gorgeous on the water! The bride and groom came in on a boat during cocktail hour. The food was great...they had shrimp, crablegs, lobster, penne a la voka, pastas, eggplant, cold salad bar, etc. They also had two bars open with top shelf liquor. *Greatest part of course...haha.

One thing that I noticed during cocktail hour was there was not enough seating for the amount of people there. Many people were standing and trying to eat, which was uncomfortable. If it rained (which it didn't) the cocktail hour would be in a small tented dome room thing(don't know the name so I made that up) which would not accomadate everyone. Besides that it was pretty good.

Reception:

I thought this part was a little weird. We walked in the back entrance where the seal show is. The DJ was set up in that room. (If you come in the front you would go over the bridge and go to your left. ) They would not let us sit yet and we were holding our bags, men had jackets and we had drinks in our hands. They made us stand in a circle and they announced the bridal party and bride and groom right then and there. Then they did their first dance..again we were still standing, no were to sit, with stuff in our hands and standing in a circle around them. *Thought it was different...not my liking but Im sure some didn't mind. THen they allowed us to sit down.

The tables to sit down were not in the same room as the dance floor. We walked into the other room where all the tanks were and tables were set up there. It was beautiful..especially sitting next to the tanks while you eat. The food again was great we had a choice of filet mignion, snapper, or chicken. They had wine on every table. It was nice to be able to walk around the aquarium and do what you please throughout the night.

The downfall: My tasting is I like the dance floor in the room with the tables because some people do not like to dance and miss out on many things that happen on the dance floor. Also, the DJ was extremely loud and I think it was becasue the aquarium is like a warehouse so the music echoed off the walls...too loud. The seating was difficult because it was spread out around the tanks..hard to explain but I couldn't see tables on the other side. Another thing I did not like is the fact that people were missing out on specific events during the wedding because they were exploring the aquarium. I liked it as a guest but as a bride I wouldn't. The service wasn't the best either but sometimes you get that when it's not a catering hall (fully). We missed out on the cake cutting, and the father daughter dance because we did not know it was happening...it was in another room.

Besides that...like I said it was very cool the way the layout was because you sat next to tanks and saw fish, sharks, etc. It was a dfifferent kind of wedding, not your typical layout and that is why it was cool. I don't think it was a bad wedding but if you are a picky bride and want specifics (meaning service) you probably wouldn't like it too much. My friend is very laid back and she didnt mind those things. If I get the picz on the computer I will get them on here to show you.

I hope I expained enough...I hate writing this much because my hand hurts now and I probably left out a lot of stuff. So ask away and I'll answer the best that I can.

Like i said...it was a great wedding and the bride and groom went home very happy...everyone has different tastes.

Good...like I said I did have a good time and we danced all night. I just felt bad for those who couldn't stand too long or did not dance and they missed out on stuff.
