Atlantis in Riverhead or Thatched Cottage

Hi Ladies,

My Fh & I are getting married 9/15/12, my soon to be daughter will be getting married Oct 2013. She is starting to look at venues. She is interested in Atlantis in Riverhead or Thatched Cottage. If anyone has quoted for either could you please FM them to me and also your opinions of either place.

Thatched Cottage!!!!
Beautiful venue, great food, great service. I highly recommend them... and I promise I'm not just being biased because my wedding will be there! hehe
Anyway, I only have a quote for May, 2013.... if you still want it, I can FM it to you.

I think these are two COMPLETELY different venues and it really depends on what she is going for. I love, love, love the Thatched Cottage but had considered the Atlantis; for the money, amount of food, level of service - I don't think you could go wrong with the Thatched Cottage.

I looked into Atlantis...it was nice. The ballroom next door is really nice, too. I think Thatched Cottage is beautiful and reasonably priced.

I looked at the Thatched Cottage last weekend and thought it was beautiful....definitely making my short list!

The first place FH and I looked at was Atlantis because we wanted a more unique venue. Personally, we were not impressed with the rendering of the ballroom and while the aquarium is beautiful, if you have the wedding entirely on the aquarium side with a bigger wedding (we we have 150 guests), part of your guests will be cut off behind the fish tanks wall and not be able to see the dance floor. Also, since they have the extension now, there would be 2 weddings at once, with the bridal suite in the aquarium, which could potentially have a bride getting ready while we have our cocktail hour going on! I'm not a fan of sharing a venue with another bride, so although the space is great, it just wasn't the right fit for us.

If the wedding is somewhat large than I wouldn't recommend Atlantis in Riverhead. The guests are sat in different rooms and there are TV screens put up so you can see what is going on in the other rooms.

But that is just my opinion!

Just went to a wedding at Atlantis...definitely go with THATCHED COTTAGE!!!!!!!!

I've never had a problem with anyone at Thatched Cottage & they have been extremely accommodating to me. Just saying...

Hahaha I was thinking the same thing! Never heard the name Ralph thrown around at TC.....

I find reading this to be completely surprising. Ralph is the owner and is really hands off; I beleive he's the chef - he leaves the negotiations to the staff. I love the Thatched...96 days to go for us!!!
