Re: Atlantis Marine World?
Personally no, but we looked there. We were considering it but a few things turned us off. one, they keep it cool in there because it's an aquarium- and we were told they couldn't warm the place up b/c it would affect the tanks. Also, it's dark in there- and again- they weren't going to make it brighter. (make sure you tell your guests to bring a sweater!) I know someone whose mom went to a wedding there and didn't care for it at all. Plus, they put the bride and groom up on the top of the shark tank and all of your guests are down a flight of stairs from you. (I'm sure you don't have to have your table up there if you don't want to though)
Personally though I think it could be a great place for a wedding- and it makes for awsome pics! You're always going to find someone who has a problem with something no matter where you choose! I told my hubby I'd like to have an event there someday!
aw, the pics look real nice! i think if you are into it then it is a great idea! it's definately different!

Most of these things you mentioend are just not true. I had my wedding there in November 2006.
It was not cold in the aquarium. I am ALWAYS cold and my wedding dress was strapless - I was fine. I did not see any of my guests cold.
They use special lighting for weddings. You will need a flash for taking pictures but most weddings you do anyway.
And last, we did not sit up top by the shark tank. We sat downstairs with our guests in front of the beautiful reef tank. I'm sure you COULD sit up there if you wanted. They are so flexible, you could do whatever you want!
Please FM if you have any questions. I HIGHLY recommend the aquarium if you are looking for something different. My DH is big into aquariums and I was hesitant at first. But on my wedding day, ALL my fears melted away. I don't regret a thing and would do it all over again (if I could!). I have many more pictures too so if you want to see more inside the aquarium, let me know and I will send them to you. Good Luck!

We looked right when they opened the place to weddings in 2003 and I didn't find them to be flexible about much back then, so they may have changed some things then to cater more to people. I also mentioned in my post that I'm sure you didn't HAVE to sit up top- I was just answering her honestly. I'm glad you enjoyed your wedding there- as I said I already told my hubby that I'd like to have an event there some day!

OMG, I wanted my wedding there in the worst way, however the prices wers so expensive. Even the buffet quote was still $20 more pp then what we ended up with.

Re: Atlantis Marine World?
I also got married out there in Sept 04. They also used my wedding photos for all of there ad and inside the aquarium and outside on the banner. It was an awesome wedding and no we did not sit up on top of the shark tank we were down stairs with all of our guests. Yes they do have to keep it cool but when you are dancing and drinking it feels great and no one sweating!! LOL

Re: Atlantis Marine World?
feel free to FM me with any questions or concerns! check out my review and www.laceyandmark.com for pics. i loved having my wedding there! it was definitely unique and my guests still rave about it! its definitely not cheaper than having your wedding at a traditional reception hall, but i thought the price was worth it for the atmosphere. we did end up doing buffet to save money, our price pp was less than $100 (not including tax and grat), but i did not mind doing buffet at the aquarium because the atmostphere was fun and light. my best advice to you would be to check it out for yourself and also watch them set up for a wedding, because they truly do transform the atmosphere. best of luck to you!

Re: Atlantis Marine World?
i went to a wedign there on the 4th of july 2 yrs back.. i thought it was great, it was a little cool, but what catering hall isn't?? It was amazing the guests werent stuck at a table if you didnt want to dance you could roam around. very nice, only complaint was the location the the dj, we ate in the room that has the staircase to go upstairs with the tanks surronding us (great!) but the dj was out just over the bridge off to the right if heading back to the door to leave.. you could hardly hear the music and def. couldnt sit and watch the bride and groom dance, also when you went in there the music was very loud and it echoed between the cement walls, But this could have been all the dj's fault and also i'm not sure that you have to put the dj there, other then that we had a great time!! def do this! one other thing- they do use the same chairs they used in the cafteria all day long, just slipped white covers over them.. but you couldnt tell!

Re: Atlantis Marine World?
if you do go with atlantis, i recommend going with a dj who has experience setting up there! it accoustics are different than traditional catering halls, its so important that the dj knows what they are doing. we went with get in tune because they are a recommended vendor for AMW and they know exactly how to set up so the sound is perfect (not too loud, not too low). i think its funny that a few people mentioned that its cool/cold in there. i am always cold, and i never felt cold at atlantis, especially the night of the wedding because we were dancing so much. also, they do not use the same chairs as in the cafeteria. maybe they did in the past, but we did not get the chair covers and our chairs were not cafeteria chairs (you can see pics in my review). i agree that its a cool location because people are certainly not stuck at their tables if they dont want to dance. if guests dont like to dance, but like to watch, they do set up tables around the dance floor for people who want to grab a drink and sit for a bit and watch. * i am not trying to negate anything that anyone says on here, but i think AMW might be doing things differently now compared to when they first opened.

Re: Atlantis Marine World?
I went to a wedding there last summer. We had an awesome time, although I think it would depend what you are looking for. For us, we wanted elegance and really good food so it wasn't the best option. However, if you want something fun and different it is perfect. We had so much fun checking out all the tanks and we could even go see the animals outdoors. We danced and the music was fine and the drinks were great, the bartenders were so much fun and made anything we asked for. Overall it was a great time, just very different from what some brides want in a traditional wedding.
