soooooo i am normally the nicest most non confrontational person when it comes to planning....i dont like to be pushy or anything,
but after waiting weeks just to book a TRIAL with Hair Genie, I finally get her to respond offering me a trial date......so i respond YES we'll be there! Asked if I should bring my headpiece, veil, etc...normal stuff...
well, im greeted w/an email this morning saying 'It seems i have a last minute booking that morning, so can you do it later that day or Sunday instead?'
now....this ticks me off because I've been waiting sooooooooooooo patiently for weeks for this girl who cant respond to emails in a timely fashion, now to finally be booked and then have her change it?! I don't know if I'm overreacting, but heres the email i sent back to her:
'Jenn,
We can probably do later in the day, but what time do you mean? It is a long drive for us, so we'd have to know an actual appointment time. What time is your last minute booking? When will it be over? That's when I want to be there. Please let me know.
I don't understand, however, how you got a last minute booking. Do you mean that in the time span it took from offering us Jan 2 at 10am to receiving mail back from me saying that it was good, somebody else booked the time? Does this happen often? I would just hate to go through all the trouble of trials, and traveling, and waiting, thinking my wedding date is open and then come the trial, you receive a last minute booking on May 22. I hope you understand my concern.
But please let me know what time you are available later in the day January 2 so I can let you know if we're available. You have the apponitment book, not me.
Thank you, Gina'
is that bad?? should i not be getting a tude w/someone whos not even technically my vendor yet? i just think that its total BS that you offer me an appointment time, CHOOSE TO TAKE FOREVER to respond to emails where I've confirmed that time, and yet I'm the one who gets screwed out of the appointment???! Am I wrong? Should this bother me? Or is it right that I was being assertive because it's my wedding and I should feel secure with all my vendors?

Re: Attitude w/a Vendor...
I don't think you're wrong. I think she is ridiculous! Last minute appt? I think that's shady. I was thinking of booking a trial with her but now I don't think it's worth the effort.

i've heard that she takes forever to respond to emails, so i definitely understand your concern. i think the email was good and you were really upfront about your concerns.
I'm sorry, but this ia a no-no in my book. Bride's are these vendors bread and butter, and in my opinion, they need us more than we need them.
It is perfectly fine that you sent that e mail....in fact, FH & I ended uo canceling a vendor for similiar reasons....She tried to get nasty with us and not give us $500 back.....Well, FH had all the facts of our coorespondence with her, and his knowledge scared this vendor off....In the end, she made us sign some bogus contract that we would not slander her on LIW... Whatever. We never do, but if someone we know & like was going to book this person, I would let them know.
Sorry for the tyrade, BUT these vendors should be less cocky.
Gina- This is just me, i am sure she is great ans all, but this already leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Hopfully, there will be a good explanation.

I think your email was totally appropriate, not too nasty and straight to the point. I think her not answering her emails in a timely fashion is totally unprofessional.

Re: Attitude w/a Vendor...
Jenn is an absolute sweetheart in person but one of the reasons I didn't book her was b/c of her awful communication...

Re: Attitude w/a Vendor...
i think that sounds perfect ...... i hate when they dont get back to you for awhile and then that happens.
I had the same thing happen to me with a makeup vendor, she called 2 days before my appointment and said im confirming yourappt for next week there seems to be a problem with an overbooking.
they have some nervee

I dont think you sounded like you were giving an attitude. I think you were just voicing your concerns.
Let us know what happens!

Re: Attitude w/a Vendor...
I think its a well written email and has the proper tone. I just don't agree that saying the vendor's name on this thread is right.
Even if she has less than stellar communications - you don't know whether she will do a great job on your hair/makeup that day - and I think vendors have a lot to juggle with not only appointments but the possibility of being slandered on LIW/word of mouth that affects them. Its a very competitive business, being a wedding vendor right now - I would have just posted the email but then kept the vendor info private via FM.

I think that it's great that your e-mail was really upfront! I think it's great that you called her out on it now, so that she knows!

Re: Attitude w/a Vendor...

I had booked her for my wedding and was VERY happy with her work and her AMAZING positive energy. If it wasnt for her- i would of strangled some of the ppl at my house (my beautiful amazing sister that i loooveee oh so much but kept ticking me off that day..lol)
And she is so awesome SHE was the one that helped me with my dress cause someone( my beautiful amazing sister that i loooveee oh so much) was busy complaining..lol

I think your email is great. I feel like vendors take advantage of us sometimes and your email is showing you're not going to let that happen. Good Job!

I'm surprised you even waited that long to hear back from here. I would have found someone else.

Re: Attitude w/a Vendor...
No, your email was perfect.
I contacted her several months ago to set up a trial for hair. It took her literally 3 1/2 weeks (and 3 of my follow up emails!!) to email me back to ask when it was good to have a trial.
I emailed her a list of dates I was free, and I never heard from her again!! Needless to say, I booked someone else and the Hair genie left a really bad taste in my mouth

I think you wrote it well - you got your point across without being mean.
