soooooo i am normally the nicest most non confrontational person when it comes to planning....i dont like to be pushy or anything,
but after waiting weeks just to book a TRIAL with Hair Genie, I finally get her to respond offering me a trial date......so i respond YES we'll be there! Asked if I should bring my headpiece, veil, etc...normal stuff...
well, im greeted w/an email this morning saying 'It seems i have a last minute booking that morning, so can you do it later that day or Sunday instead?'
now....this ticks me off because I've been waiting sooooooooooooo patiently for weeks for this girl who cant respond to emails in a timely fashion, now to finally be booked and then have her change it?! I don't know if I'm overreacting, but heres the email i sent back to her:
'Jenn,
We can probably do later in the day, but what time do you mean? It is a long drive for us, so we'd have to know an actual appointment time. What time is your last minute booking? When will it be over? That's when I want to be there. Please let me know.
I don't understand, however, how you got a last minute booking. Do you mean that in the time span it took from offering us Jan 2 at 10am to receiving mail back from me saying that it was good, somebody else booked the time? Does this happen often? I would just hate to go through all the trouble of trials, and traveling, and waiting, thinking my wedding date is open and then come the trial, you receive a last minute booking on May 22. I hope you understand my concern.
But please let me know what time you are available later in the day January 2 so I can let you know if we're available. You have the apponitment book, not me.
Thank you, Gina'
is that bad?? should i not be getting a tude w/someone whos not even technically my vendor yet? i just think that its total BS that you offer me an appointment time, CHOOSE TO TAKE FOREVER to respond to emails where I've confirmed that time, and yet I'm the one who gets screwed out of the appointment???! Am I wrong? Should this bother me? Or is it right that I was being assertive because it's my wedding and I should feel secure with all my vendors?

Re: Attitude w/a Vendor...
I actrually think it was good because it was upfront...
Really you want the best for your big day and you dont want to know that this normally happens or basically how you told her, is saying you wont take that kind of crap. I think it makes perfect sense and no you were not too rude.

Re: Attitude w/a Vendor...
ure so not wrong and u wrote everything nicely, not in a nasty way. it's a concern that definitly should be brought up if ure thinking of booking her. i dont understand either how a 'last minute' appointment happened to pop up. u definitly need to feel secure with your vendors and not worry a week before the wedding whether or not she'll have a change of plan or time thats going to effect ur wedding day going off without a hitch.

I think that your e-mail is fine. The only line that was kind of a jab was the last one (you have the appointment book, not me). However, I am POSITIVE vendors deal with a million times worse than one-liners, and your e-mail is totally justified.

i've heard that she takes forever to respond to emails, so i definitely understand your concern. i think the email was good and you were really upfront about your concerns.

i think your email is perfect!!! i dont think its too harsh, but it gets your point across and shows your upset! I love it!!! I'd be pretty pissed off too if that happened to me, and i'd probably just move on to someone else, but thats just my opinion...

LOLOL yaa i was trying to be nice but like WTFFFFFFFFFFF at the same time!!!
hence my last line....like seriously, she asks 'would some time later in the day be good for you?'
well, honey, that could be noon, 2 pm, 6pm...who knows!!! i jus think its silly...
but then i was like 'omg what if i have an attitude so she purposely does my hair bad???' but then i was like 'well she wouldn't do that cuz then she knows there'd be horrible reviews'
i always get afraid of being assertive but i dont think i was mean

you were assertive but not overly mean. you got your point across. hopefully going forward you'll have a more positive and attentive response from her.

yeah i think that was fine, you told her exactly how it was and what your issue is/would be, she needs to know how to upkeep her business

Re: Attitude w/a Vendor...
I don't think you were rude and I COMPLETELY agree with you! I was thinking the same thing you were 'what happens if she has a last minute booking the day of her wedding?' That is just rude of what she did and would make me think that she can do that when you have a trail closer to your wedding or the actual wedding day. You were rude, you expressed concerns and HOPEFULLY she responds back with an apology and offers some sense of it being a real one.

I totally would be just as annoyed. If this is how she's treating you as a prospective client, you may be better off just moving on to someone else.

yaa well i just emailed another vendor that someone recommended to me in the same price range....
so we'll see how she responds, if shes available...
thats my thing, i was just thrilled that this chick was available for my wedding 5 months away!!!! and ive heard awesome things about her, lotsa her work looks like what iwant, so thats the only reason why im dealing w/BS....
so we'll see if the other vendor is available, if so, ill get a move on w/her, still try to get a trial w/the Hair Genie, and go from there.....
I'll keep u all updated!!

If it was me, and I have was having this much trouble/drama with a vendor before I even booked them -- I'd move along.
Courtesy and being timely are HUGE with me.

Your email was perfect ! Nothing was wrong with it ! She gave me the same problem when I wanted to book with her for my wedding day. She always came up with some excuses so I decided at last forget it. She never respond to any of my phone calls and her emails took forever. I book with someone else instead. No regrets!

OMG your email was PERFECT! I would've been way b!tchier. However, do you really want to deal with this BS? There are a million hair people, I would seriously find someone else who actually values your business and communicates with you in a professional way.

I think you definitely got your point across, not nasty but a little 'tude. I don't blame you though. To be honest, I'd be a little turned off.

ITA I was thinking the same thing, there has to be someone else you can book that is more responsive

Re: Attitude w/a Vendor...
Honestly, I wouldn't bother with the trial. I'd be concerned about 'last minute' bookings as well.
