Attn Gardeners..

I have a quick questions... i planted a Rose Bush last year.. granted i bought it from home depot not in the greatest condition and i think i even planted it wrong but it grew leaves and everything. no roses budded but i think that was because it was too late in the season.. anyway, i noticed some new leaves sprouting, will it come back? do you think if i water it every day it will bloom?

thanks!

Re: Attn Gardeners..

I am the worlds worst gardner (i kill virtually everything I plant). But from what I understand, roses are really hardy and will pretty much survive anything. I planted a few of those mini rose bush plants and they come back every year despite my complete lack of attention to them.

Im sure there are lots of girls who can explain better but I think you are supposed to prune a rose bush to get it to sprout more flowers.

if you have new leaves than it is still alive and maybe you will get a bloom this year. You can buy food for roses, or put the used coffee grind around the base.

If its growing leaves, I would give it at least another year to grow flowers. I think roses start out slow but get really big and beautiful after a few years.

Re: Attn Gardeners..

forget me nots, bleeding hearts and roses grow back every year. I think roses take a few years to grow a flower but need special attention at first (water, care, no weeds) to help them reach their full blossom

If you want to know anything about Fig trees and veggies I am a pro on that

my grandmother had a beautiful rose bush and grapes that grew back every year (no matter how many times she tried to kill them)

My great grandmother, my mom and I used to garden all the time. When my great grandmother went into the nursing home it used to be just me and my mom in the garden, but when nonna passed away I havent done much gardening by my parents.

I did tell FI that when we have a house I do want to garden.
