****ATTN: Giorgio's Brides****

Original post by JTG4EVER

Hey Girls! Ok so I had a long, wonderful conversation with George Jr. today. We talked about a lot of the things everyone was concerned about and he cleared it all up for us.

Chairs - the reason they purchased new chairs is because the old ones are OLD! He said they are very worn out and needed to be replaced. The chairs that they replaced them with are very nice and will go very well with the new carpeting. [Picture posted below.] The old chairs will look funny with the new carpeting. So unfortunately, you cannot request to use the old chairs. They will not bring them out because of the shape they are in. Which brings me to my next thing...

The new carpet - George sent me a picture of the new carpet. [Picture posted below] I actually think it is very elegant and with the gold chairs it will make the dining room look spectacular.

The new menu - Yes girls, the menu has changed. However, not drastically. A few things about this new menu. #1. If you do not like the selections and the way the menu is set up, you can stick to the menu that was in place when you signed your contract. Giorgio's is very willing to work with you. #2. George discussed some of the new menu options with me and these new selections sound amazing! #3. They did NOT remove anything from the menu. You can still have that salad appetizer with the mozzarella if you want. :) #4. They did change cocktail hour carving station to 2 meats. The reason they did this is because they are using a better quality meat and have some higher end choices. (Ex: Veal Chop) Changing the menu was not meant to 'save a few bucks' or to 'make the meal not as nice.' The selections are higher end choices and makes the menu a little classier. If you have already chosen your menu choices, you can stick with them. You just need to sit down with George and discuss it with him.

The new uplighting - Yes it is true that Giorgio's has installed uplighting in the dining room. And yes it is true that as of right now, Long Island Sound and Absolute are the only ones contracted to use the lighting system. Unfortunately, all other companies cannot bring in their uplighting system. The reason is, because the new system in Giorgio's is afixed to the wall and it comes about 8 inches off the wall. So if another company brought their system in, it would be 8 inches from the wall, thus not really projecting onto the wall. It will not give you the effect you are looking for. That being said, if you are not contracted with LI Sound or Absolute, and you have contracted your DJ company to do the uplighting, you need to call the DJ company and tell them they need to call George Jr. He is willing to work something out with those of us who booked prior to the new uplighting system being installed. For those of you who recently booked Giorgio's and have not contracted a DJ yet you have a few options. #1. Use LI Sound or Absolute and use the uplighting system. #2. Use an outside DJ and just contract to use the uplighting system through Giorgio's. #3. Use an outside DJ and just don't do any uplighting.

Basically girls, Giorgio's is very accommodating and will work with us. They are making improvements to their venue. Things cannot remain the same year after year. Things get old and they are trying to keep the place spectacular. My conversation with George Jr. was wonderful. If you have any questions or concerns, please call him. Make an appointment or just talk to him over the phone. He truely is willing to work with us. He said his brides are his number one priority. We just need to communicate with him.

I hope this clears up most of your concerns. If you have any more questions or concerns you can FM me, post on here, or call George Jr. or George Sr. They would love to talk to you. I have complete and total faith in them. Their place has been spectacular for so many years. They know what they are doing! And they do it right! They were just given an award and rated in the top 5% for catering halls in the country! Everyone who has ever been to Giorgio's for any event raves about it. We have nothing to worry about. Please don't worry. And if you are worried, call George.

Edit: Giorgio's is on facebook. You can get a lot of updates that way too. Go on and friend them.

Giorgio's FB Page

Thanks! I was finding the business page (link) but not the one to friend. The facebook icon on the Giorgio's website sends you to the business page I linked and not to the one with actual updates.

To be clear, I'm not upset/annoyed that they're changing things. I expected that they would... and, really, I'd be disappointed if they didn't!

I suggested an email list because it would have saved him a few phone calls in the past week. Sending an email to a listserv is the same amount of work as posting something to facebook... I'm not saying to email each person individually. Putting the info only on facebook keeps me from sharing it with my parents, who don't have facebook accounts, and with FH, who hates the site with a passion.

I'm sorry if i got defensive. I didn't mean to.

I forgot to mention before...Giorgio's is on facebook. Go on and friend request them. You will get updates that way too.

Do you mean to 'Like' the Giorgio's Caterers page? Or is there a different page that I'm supposed to friend request? (George Regini -- Jr, presumably -- has a facebook pag, but only 36 friends. I'm guessing that's not the one.) The Giorgio's Caterers page has some photos (mostly stock from the website), plus advertisements for New Years Eve and the February showcase. Nothing about the new chairs or carpet or menu or uplighting... nothing to update us.

I'd still prefer an update email!

I hate hate hate the new chairs, this looks like every other reception hall to me now. I booked in August and when we commented on the chairs and how amazing they were... we were told they were recently purchased. So... I am confused now... those chairs are flimsy and fall over with the right handbag on the back. The old chairs just brought a sense of elegance to the room, that I was unable to find anywhere else :(

I loved the old chairs too. When I booked, the first thing I commented on was how much I loved the chairs. I know that seems like such a silly thing to enjoy about a RH, but I was in love.

I'm not going to allow it to ruin my day (even though I may be slightly disappointed). All of the Giorgio's girls will have the most amazing weddings ever - despite the new or old chairs!

When was the menu changed? I just booked 2 weeks ago so I'm assuming I have the new menu?
As for the chairs, I love the old ones as well but the new ones are nice also! And they are brand new!!
And I loveeee the new carpeting they are putting in!! George Sr. talked to us for a good half hour about the process to get that carpeting (Donald Trump uses the exact one in one of his buildings so George had to contact him to get permission to use the same one!! haha)
AHHH I love Giorgio's!!!!!!!
