August Honeymoon??

Hi!
Just wondering if anyone had any ideas on where I should go on an August honeymoon.

We just went to Hawaii for my friends wedding and Tahiti, Bali and Bora Bora (all my favs) are way out of our price range. We are looking to spend about $3K-$4K for one week. Possibly an all inclusive place. We are just afraid of hurricanes. Everyone I know that had theirs during hurricane season had bad weather.

So any ideas?

My vote is for spain

I came from my HM a few weeks ago and spain was one of the 2 places we went to and seriously had the time of our lives.

I know alot of people are afraid of europe bc of the euro but spain is VERY affordable, i thought it was even more affordable than NY is. Our dinners never cost alot of money and we would get tons of things. Lunch was even less expensive and definitely spent alot less than we do when we go out to eat in NYC. We went to barcelona and it is breathtaking. All the architecture, the city is just gorgeous. Everybody was so friendly and its such a nice relaxing environment. Its funny bc it is a major city with tons of tourists too but everyone is so laid back, nobody is rushing to get anywhere, not even the locals. Everyone really enjoys life there. I definitely want to go back one day

My only concern with spain or europe is I have heard its like a zoo there during the summer. Tourist everywhere and just plain craziness. Was it like that??? I really want to go to spain but am thinkign about sticking with tropical setting so we can relax and not deal with all the madness... if you know what I mean.

it was pretty packed when we went but like i said, everybody is so laid back. Nobody rushes to get anywhere. When we first got there DH would rush when we walked, he was still in NYC mentality, and i told him to notice nobody else wallks like that. DH and I dont like the beach, he hates it and i just get bored of it within an hour, i only like it so i can get tanned. So bc of that we didnt want an island where thats all you can do. We did go to monaco which does have that beach environment but also lots of other things to do so was a bit different.

It wasnt hectic to walk anywhere or go see anything. It was a very relaxing HM for us, and had the best time.

But for us we picked what was best for us. Tropical isnt our thing. SO we went with what worked for us. I think thats what everyone should do, pick the type of HM that fits both your personalities best

just saw this: spain will be empty and half closed in august because of the 5 week summer 'holiday;' that means nothing but tourists and a lot less local flavor. just a thought.

yeah unfortunately all of august actually is like that in europe. In europe most people have off the whole month of august. As far as the tourist thing, there were tourists EVERYWHERE and i went in May. The whole things being closed would be a concern of mine though. Everybody is on vacation, they either have off in July and then the rest of the people have off the month of August. I have gone to europe a few times in august and things were open but i always did realize how nobody was working at that time

Being that I work in a school I get spring break in April... maybe its better then

August is hard with europe period. ALthough its funny bc although everybody is off in august, i always went to visit family in europe in August. Since i was 7 years old, everytime we went to visit we only did it in august since i had off of school and it was the best time for my mom to go on vacation. We never had problems with places being closed, restaurants and everything was open. But yeah i always do read that you have to be careful with places being closed bc of august. When i was booking our hotel for monaco, you saw the different rates for the seasons and july 28-end of august was very high season. So since they have the most tourists at that time, im guessing they will have lots of places open.

But yeah april-may i think would be better.
