Re: Average cost of alterations

I had my alterations done at RK Bridal (I purchased my gown there), and the 'basic alterations' fee was $350. I had them take my dres out (about 1/2 an inch), shorten it, take in the chest area, and put in a french bustle. The seasmstress did a great job, but like most other girls, my bustle didn't stay (it got stepped on about 75 times during the night, so it wasn't really the seamstress' fault!)

I think mine was about $550 at Kleinfelds.

The seamstress was Awesome and worth it!! She shortened the dress and had to take it in by my boobs (b/c they're small... Boo). She also put velcro on my strapless bra and in the dress so it stays up.

Outcome was Amazing!

I still think Kleinfelds charges too much though.

Mine were capped at $250. I got mine at Village Bridal Salon, formerly Lidia's. They seamstress was fantastic. She really knows her stuff. She did a hem, took it in at the bust until it was perfect and did a 10 point french bustle. She was outstanding.

mine was 195. I'm tall and slender so all that needed to be done was the dress had to be taken in a little bit and 3 ties for a french bussle.

outcome was GORGEOUS...

Has anyone had any alterations done at david's Bridal? I got my dress from there, and it hardly needs any alterations, only a hem. I am just wondering how their prices are and the kind of job they do.

I've heard a lot of horrible things about David's alterations. I too got my gown there but am taking it elsewhere for alterations. I have had a few people that say they did a good job, but it was expensive. They charge for everything and there is not cap. If you only need a hem, it might be different. HTH
