i think that was what we put as a deposit for our RH
and it is true and sad that if thats the Average that the NY wedding scene def raises that cost.

That would have been my budget had I not gotten so many extras.. Totally doable and still have an amazing wedding.

Put who are we kidding, ours are usually a lot nicer and more fun. I was at an our of state wedding and they had barely any food.

I'm trying to stay around that price -- and it's been possible so far because of the Thursday before Memorial day date....we'll see though...the details seem to be adding up quite a bit as May approaches!!

Mine really isn't much more than that. Our budget is 23k. The numbers get fudged depending on what you include. You cano put rings and honeymoon in there and it goes way up. And remember what average means. There are higher and lower. You can have a wedding for that much even on long island. You just can't buy into all the wants and have to haves. I don't think anyone will have less fun or remember my wedding less because its on a budget that happens to be an average wedding.

Wow I was getting pretty upset while reading the reply's until I got to the last few. I am definitely not going to have much more then that to spend. FH and I are footing the bill ourselves. I think I can throw a pretty nice wedding for 24k. I research prices on anything before I buy it. I'm only shooting for 100 or so people and I am definitely going to do off peak on a friday =]

thats about what FH & I are spending. now if you include gifts from my parents, and our siblings, it takes us to 30k, which is still a decent price considering what NY weddings run (my brother spent 55k a few years ago!! )

When all is said and done even a more budget friendly venue wedding without the honeymoon or rings is going to still a 1000 dollars over. However we did splurge on some things like program fans, doc, uplighting and dj effects. So if I didn't upgrade anything we could have probably made the average or below. Plus we are inviting a 150 people which is what really took us over if everyine shows up. I think if you have a smaller affair this rate is doable. You can have a beautiful wedding without spending a fortune.
