Average cost of BM gifts?

Wow, okay this totally freaked me out. I was planning on spending less then half of what seems to be the average! (And my FMIL thinks I am nuts for that much)

My question is this: Is the BM's gifts supposed to be a token/keepsake of the wedding and their role? Or is it supposed to be a useful present? Like a camera for the girl who loves to take pictures?

What do you think? (I may also post this as its own topic, because now it is really worrying me!)

Thanks for all the feedback, I think I'm going to end up spending about $100 on all my bridesmaids & flowergirl and $500-$750 on my Koumbara - in a Greek wedding, the Koumbara is like the Maid of Honor
but performs the crowning ceremony & is also responsible for many different things at the wedding.
