Awful News- Update

Original post by amyandeddie

I'm on my way to St. Catherine's Hospital, we think my FH's mother had a stroke.

Thanks so much for the hugs and prayers! Eddie's Mom is still in the ER , they haven't been able to get a room for her. She's doing alright, it looks like the stroke affected the part of the brain that controls movement; we still have to wait for the rest of the test results to come back, but she did in fact have a stroke.

P. S.
Would you believe the VP of operations at my corporate office called me and asked if I could come in to fix the computers (and not go to the hospital with FH!) She said it was an emergency! The nerve of that woman, I wish I could have jumped through the phone and .....!!!!!!!!!

Good to hear she is doing ok.. Hopefully, anything that happens to her can be cured with some physical therapy..

You should tell your 'boss' to f*ck off.. What balls!

I just saw this post. I hope everything will be okay.

Just know that a stroke does not always mean paralysis or even brain damage. A neighbor of mine in VA had several strokes and always recovered. He is like 70+ now and I know he had at least 3 strokes and came through fine.

Thanks Katrina, I needed that! I don't know much about strokes, I could use the reassurance.

New Update

Thank GOD! Eddie's mom is doing well. The MRI came back fine but they're going to do another one on Monday because she is still slurring her speech and is experiencing numbness in her leg. The doctor thinks it may be just temporary and might not even need PT.

Thank you all so much for being there! Everyone here is so sweet!

it is normal for people with stroke to have residual effects like slurring and numbness for weeks or even months, but thankfully many are eventually able to recover completely. sounds like your fmil is on the right track.

First, I am so sorry. I do actually know what you are going through. My Dad had a massive stroke seven years ago at the age of 57. At the time my brother and I were both single and in our mid and early twenties.

Unfortunately, I am a reluctant expert on this subject. If you need anything please FM me. I also know a lot about rehab centers, PT, etc.

She should be getting physical therapy immediately. The longer they wait the more lingering effects she might have.
