AWFUL POTTERY BARN!!!! long

I would like to share my experience with Pottery Barn. I received a gift from Pottery Barn, glasses and a blanket. Because it was not something that we needed, I returned it to the store for merchandise credit. Since it was purchased off of their website, we had to have the refund be issued through their catalog department; I was told it would be mailed to me in 10 days. That was 9/21.

Now begins my story,
I called pottery barn in mid October asking for the status of my card,since I had not received it. They asked if I accidentally threw it out and I told them I am very careful and that did not happen, so they reissued another one. 3 weeks later and still no card in hand, I called again asking about my merchandise credit. They told me that it never got sent out because they forgot to do something on their end. So I asked when can I expect it. The associate told me that they would expedite it that day and I would get it in the mail today (11/1). Guess what? Never happened.

I called back asking to speak to a supervisor. I learned that the card was actually just sent out last night and I should expect it on Monday (I'll see it when I believe it). Of course no tracking number could be made available.

GET READY FOR THIS.

In my conversation with the supervisor, I asked to be given an explanation about why this process has been so difficult. What was finally revealed is that they actually credited the GIFT SENDER with that first merchandise credit (the one I was accused of throwing out). SO DH and I just wrote thank you cards this past weekend thanking that gift sender but it turns out she received a merchandise credit for the gift she got us. HOW EMBARRASSING. DH and I are mortified and we are very upset with how incompetent Potter Barn is. If they could have just confessed to their mess up during one of my earlier 4 conversations with them, we could have avoided that. Sure, it would have been embarrassing, but not as embarrassing as thanking someone for a returned gift they know we returned.

I don't want anyone else to have to go through this!!!

Wow thats crazy. Hopefully the gift sender is understanding.

My biggest gripe is that didn't tell us sooner bc then we wouldn't have wrote that we liked the gift. The tone of the card would have changed had we known this. Supervisor, Lorraine also made it seem like I was lucky bc we are going to get 2 merchandise credit from this. I couldnt believe her nonchalant attitude towards the entire thing

That is HORRIBLE! I don't blame you for being upset and embarrassed. Once, I returned a gift NOT KNOWING that the giver worked in the store and saw us bring it in to return! Ugh! That one thing, but the store should make this right somehow.
