B-List what did/do you do?

Original post by MsPotterhead

Hi everyone,
I need some advice. Today was the RSVP due date. We are 15 under our minimum now. There are 25 who still didn't RSVP -- they are all people we are unsure about.
What do I do???
I feel really stupid about not allowing the 2 single friends who wanted to bring guests to bring them.
There are a couple of people I'd like to invite, but the RSVP card said today.
What do I do????
Advice please!
TIA

while you could fake having sent them an invite, i think you are best off just explaining that you wanted to invite them, had to cut back because of the room limitations, but now you are so happy you can invite them.

or, you had finalized your list a while ago but you've become closer over the past year and you decided better late than never, and you really would love if the could come.

good luck, i hope it goes well

Ditto - while they may not find out about the lie - it will be even more insulting if it ever does come out that you never sent them one in the first place.

I don't think I would fake it either. You don't need one more thing to worry about when planning a wedding.

This is what I would personally do...

Call your two friends who wanted to bring someone and tell them, please feel free to invite a guest. Then call the 25 people that didn't respond -- you might be surprised how many say yes.

Your vendors are automatically counted toward your minimum, you only get half off for them after you exceed your minimum so add your vendors in and you may be close then you think.

I personally don't like the b list thing (it can be insulting on the receiving end) so if there are still spots to fill I would see about some kind of add on at the reception hall or maybe a siblings friend that you have known forever but didn't invite -- they are less likely to get insulted and may think of it as a night of good food and drinks. Just make it clear to them you don't expect a gift.

We sent some emails, and now we are 8 under minimum -- I think we will meet it after all. My mom will still have to make some phone calls. We wanted it to be as small as possible, and only invited very close friends and family. Maybe we cut the list too much -- but now it looks like its working out! Thank you for all your advice!

Do we count towards the minimum?

I have a B-list as well. They will get their invitation after I receive all the RSVP. I'm giving the B-list people invitation with out the Response card.

Good idea. Even better though, you should get a second set of response cards (just 25) with a different RSVP date. I wish I did that! Now its too late!

Anyone know if FH and I count towards minimum?

Do we count towards the minimum?

Yes. Everyone counts towards the minimum -- you only get vendor and children discounts after you reach your minimum.

I would just make the phone calls... and tell your 2 friends they can bring guests.

I would not mail out any invites .... since today is your RSVP date
