B-party Vent

So I am very budget conscious and have been during every part of planning for my wedding. Especially for my BM things they need to purchase (hair and makeup) and when it came to the B-party. I didn't pick anywhere crazy, and even cut it down to one night so people didn't have to spend that much money. So as of now there were 10 people going.

I wake up to an email from my friend..saying we were thinking and have 4 other peoples names in parenthases.....that $200 is too much for one night since so n so had a baby....so n so just came back from a trip...so n so just moved...n whatever. So we were thinking here are two alternatives. They come just for the night to party so they don't have to stay or we do something here.

Esentially I said the point is to spend the whole day together and night which is why we got the room...and even if we went for the day and cut the hotel and got a limo instead it would be the same thing. At this point I am not cancelling it, so come when you want to come.

At this point I am super disappointed because this is my core group of friends (they aren't in the BP thought) and me and FH attend everything for all of them. One we have spent a ton of money on between her wedding....baby shower...christening..baby bday parties..etc...and we attend everyone's house warming, showers, or whatever and don't give cheap gifts. And they have only knew this was coming for how long.

At this point whoever goes goes...and whoever doesn't doesn't

Well it's not my B-party backing out its the girls I really hang out with most of the time that are.

It's like this wasn't a surprise you couldn't figure it out. One that had a baby recently I do understand because her FH is a GM in our wedding...but the rest come on. And the fact it was an email from all of them...it was like you couldn't talk to me face to face?

this seriously makes me do this for you!

people are so effing inconsiderate its not even funny. after all you do for them they don't want to spend the same on you.
same thing happened to me and essentially i was bawling to DH about it and he said eff this...everyone can come or not but you and i will still have a great time. i don't know what he said to everyone, but they all showed up withtheir happy faces on!

hope everything works out! if you give them no alternative, people will show up

having your own wedding realllllly shows you who your true friends are!!! i know its been said a million times but its sooo true! from now on you will give them the same kind of respect they have given you!

My BP has been so flakey its not even funny! we went to vegas and mind you i had an amazing time! but they didnt reach in their pockets for anything!

my one gf who lives upstate, had an excuse for every single event, shower, vegas and bachelorette dinner/drinks in NY anddddd for not staying in the hotel the night of the wedding

and yes, much like you, I did everything for her! drove 2.5 hours multiple times for her wedding events, paid for her room in atlantic city, THREW her shower, not just attended, threw it! (meanwhile she didnt come to mine or contribute and gave me a gift that was nowhere near what i gave her) and went to all her baby functions with nice gifts, again 2.5 hour drive!

your attitude is right, stick to your guns, whoever comes, comes! screw them!! its one thing i learned from this process, do not bend over backwards for others or go out of your way for others when they are not doing the same for you

dont you dare change your plans for people who cant get their ish together!!!!! and just remember it down the line

i think next bday party that comes up, you are suddenly going to be ill or realllllly low on cash!

The email felt like an intervention....I think that is what also offended me the most. One representative for all of them when I am seeing them this weekend on saturday for wine tasting for my bday. I didn't want to do anything that required a ton of money due to al the other events (b-party and wedding). It's like you couldn't just talk to me then???

It is frustrating....but honestly, right now I don't have $200 to go do anything. We moved, I had an offer that got rescinded with projects that fell through, I'm looking for work.....had to drop $700 on my car last week,

You don't know everyone's situations, you know? And it doesn't have to do with them being good friends or not

Of course I understand certain situations and life events. But 3 of the 4 girls have not had any major change in their lives. Which is y it's annoying. I'm not an unreasonable or non understanding person in any sense.

this makes me angry for you esp since you've done all these other things for them in the past. i think you start to realize how selfish people become during the wedding process. $200 is seriously not that much money and ppl just start to make up excuses not to go. it's so frustrating and i'm sorry that you have to deal w/ this BS

The most stressful part about planning has not been the actual planning...it's been other people worried about themselves and me trying to plan around others. I'm so over that.
