Babies at the Wedding

Babies at the Wedding

Sigh

FH and I had talked to his brother and SIL regarding their baby....the baby will be like 4 months old at the wedding

It sounded like they weren't going to bring it...and then they RSVPd with baby Dylan's name on the card.

FH's brother is the best man and his older son (5) is our Ring Bearer...so they won't exactly be able to help SIL during the day or anything!

Is it wrong for me to ask her to please respect our ceremony and please watch the ceremony (in a Church that is very echo-y) with the baby from the crying room?

Re: Babies at the Wedding

I'm totally w you on this, Ali! My FSIL just gave birth 2 weeks ago, to the cutest baby girl, whom I love and think is precious beyond words. However, at the time of the wedding, I already discussed with FFIL that I want the baby upstairs. During cocktail hr, I don't mind if she is brought down for a bit to be shown off, etc, I get it, she's their baby granddaughter and they want to show her off. But, no way during the reception. They also have A boy who will bs 3 come the wedding, whom I also adore, and it's ok if he's there forth ceremony, though I don't really even love that Idea.

If I had it my way, I'd have no kids at the wedding at all.

Ughhh, I know

I don't even care about the baby at the reception because we are having more of an informal reception (definitely more our style!)

I only care about the screaming, crying baby at the church

Ayay, that's a tough situation, I'd wouldn't be able to 'cause I'd feel bad if he takes it the wring wway but I think I'd ask FH to speak with his brother, sometimes communication between brothers is easier

Sure, I totally feel you. I think this is not something that should be difficult to understand. It's a special moment that you don't want ruined by the sound of a baby crying. I completely understand and share this same sentiment. I hope you're able to get the message thru to them ...

Right...I don't want to be a b*tch, but I also don't want to be a pushover

And I REALLY don't want the baby at the Church ceremony

FH has to respect that and tell them

Agreed. It's his family, let him deal with it. No sense in you creating bad blood before you two are even married!

I'm with you, Ali ... I feel a church ceremony is no place for a baby.

DH's nephew was 4 months..

he was at the entire party..from ceremony through reception.

I didn't even know he was there to be honest.

I heard later that during the reception he got a little fuzzy so the mom took him to the bridal suite.

but honestly I didn't notice him.

AS a mother I would in no way be offended. She shouldnt have to be told. You cant control when a baby will cry, so why take the chance. The church is an important time.

At the reception though I wouldnt mind its not quiet anyway.

The problem is that she has no social graces and does not pick up on social cues.....so she DOES have to be told. Multiple times

This is why I am cranky!

hahaha

i think that asking that simple request isn't so out there. i don't think she can even be offended by it. it's not like you are asking her to skip the ceremony or leave the baby with a babysitter.

definitely have FH broach the subject though!
