My FSIL ( who is in the BP along with her husband and son) is pregnant. The new baby will be about 5 months old at our wedding-she lives in another state and is coming in for the wedding-and she is assuming that she can bring the baby to the wedding. I am not really happy about this and feel that she could get a babysitter to watch the baby ( FBIL's family all live in the area)...am I being selfish for not wanting a baby at the wedding?

Re: babies at your reception?
my FSIL is pregnant and due 3 months before the wedding. she is a BM. i'm SO excited to become an aunt!!!
she is leaving the baby with a friend, who is actually due this month or next. having a baby that young at a wedding isn't a good idea because they need so much attention at all times. the poor mom wouldn't be able to enjoy herself. plus, i don't think the noise of the music would be good for a baby's ear.
see if she can find a friend or relative

i am having the baby because i dont want when the newborn is 10 to ask why he/she wasnt at my wedding.
if that's what you want to do then great! but do you honestly think the baby will ask that when he/she's 10? it wouldn't even cross my mind if i wasn't invited to a wedding when i was a baby! it's not like he'll be able to remember it and hopefully by the time he gets even older, he'll realize a baby's place isn't at a wedding...it's at home snuggled up in a cozy bed.
but do whatever makes you happy!

No children of any age at ours...I have a ton of cousins who have large families...example one of the cousins has 7 kids...so needless to say it would have snowball effect....therefore no kids...

Re: babies at your reception?
your not being selfish at all especially if they have family that live in the area that can watch the baby for the nite. If you let her bring her child to the wedding then you might have to hear other people ccomplaining why couldn't they bring there kids. I am not having any children except my daughter who is in the wedding party.

I am not crazy about the idea of having babies at the church, but my sister, brother and FSIL all have kids, so they are welcome to be there

Re: babies at your reception?
i'm nervous that someone will try to bring a baby....
i'm not that BIG of a bridezilla...but i'd be really upset if during my mass a child cried. i think i could deal with the kid at the reception...but it's the mass that would drive me crazy.

I personally don't mind babies at my wedding. an infant who is going to be in a stroller won't bother anyone. It's toddlers running around that I would be concerned with.

I don't think you're being selfish. No one can tell you how to throw your own wedding.
For our wedding FI and I are inviting all the kids in our families, but we're close to all of them.
