baby beats doppler

I just got mine in the mail. I tried using it but could not seem to hear anything. Any advice from you ladies that have used it successfully? Do I put the gel on both the doppler and my belly?

I always put the gel on my belly...

How far along are you, and where are you trying to find the heart beat...

Silly suggestion, but is your volume up high enough..???

I am 13 weeks. I was trying to use it over the pubic bone. I have used so much gel that I am almost done with the one they sent! I only hear swooshing sounds.

how far along are you? it is quite possible that the baby is still behind the pubic bone. Start the doppler right along the bone and try to hold it on an angle pointing downward. Remember to move it slowly, because you can miss it very easily. The baby's heartbeat should be about double yours, i have made the mistake of listening to my own heartbeat and flipping out cause it sounded too slow.

i wouldnt get crazy, it is very hard to find in the beginning.

Have you heard the heartbeat in the DR.'s office yet?

I would move it slowly to different areas...and also listen to the cd...the swooshing sounds are (i think) the blood flow.... which is still a good sign that everything is great!!!

when i first got my doppler I got the heartbeat right above the pubic bone.....sometimes in the middle sometimes on the left or right....it does take time..

I was just at the doc on Monday and heard everything. I hear a lot of swooshing and another sound that almost sounds like water moving!

I would listen to the disk that it came with..it will describe all the different sounds... sometimes your hearing the heart and u dont even know it...

There alot going on in there...and I find my doppler picks it all up

I just got the basic model... i think its 24/month and you can rent it for as long as you wish!!!

I love it!!! Great investment... let me know if you wanna know anything else...
