What age do you have that done??? I thought you usually have it done around 6 weeks or so? I'm sure that's not correct, but I thought I'd ask.

I think it's more 4-6 months or so.
edited to say I'm going to a Baptism in Feb and the baby will be 5 months old.

I don't think it matters anymore... Catholic tradition says 3 weeks (correct me if I'm wrong). I think that's way too early IMO. My god daughter was not baptised until 11 months. I think it's whenever you are ready to do it. I am planning my daughters for when she is 6months.

The Catholic credo behind this is that if God forbid something happens to the baby before he/she can be baptized they're missing a sacrament and that's, well, not good. If you hear people say you shouldn't wait long they're probably pretty religious.
Do it when it's convenient for you. You have plenty of time.

Damien's is on Sunday and he is 4 months
I think most people try to do it by 2 months. We waited because we wanted to do it after the holidays.

Nicolas is still not baptized and he's 2.5 months. We are working on it though. We just went on Tuesday and registered with the church as parishoners, and now Patrick and I need to take a class.
My grandmother used to say that babies have to be baptized immediately because until they are, they are nothing but savages. She must be having a coronar in heaven over Nicky!!!

Years ago when we were little, they used to baptize us by 2 weeks old -- I think because they thought they couldn't take us out in case God forbid anything happened.
I baptized Gianna when she was 3 months old (3 months and 3 days to be exact )!!!!!
The norm these days is usually by 3 months.

Sean was 10 days shy of 3 months when he was Baptized. It really is a matter of when *you* feel you want to do it.
IMO, before 2 months is too early and after 6 months is too late. That's just my opinion!!
