Baby names?

Original post by camposal

I dont know about you girls but whenever a friend of mine is pregnant and we go baby shopping, I cant seem to get babies off my mind. I just thought it would be fun to see when you gals plan to have babies and if already have names picked out.

I'll probably have children in about three years and my fav names are: Sophia, Chrisitina, Michael and Sean.

Aidan (don't know about middle name) maybe Christopher, or Patrick.

Have to convince that Aidan sounds ok with his German last name, and that most people call you by your first name, not your entire name.

lol i had the same problem!! i had to talk FH into the fact that an irish name CAN go with an italian last name... and that if i did italian for the first and the last it would be unfair b/c i'm all irish and he's all italian so this way, it's even--half and half!!

He's 1/2 Irish and 1/2 German so the way I see it the kids would just be representing.

the best is that FH totally agreed with me once i presented it in that way and we explained this to his (big jerk) cousin and his cousin's like why cant you just have an italian name? they are ALL going to be irish? i'm like well, the middle names are after family members and the first names are irish b/c thats what i like BUT fh said he liked all of the names too-- we chose them together... so hes like i dont know its just weird. i'm like REALLY? is it? mind you his last name is DeGaetano (his dad is all italian) and his mom Colleen (maiden name Burns) is ALL irish and named his sister Mary Shawn (irish) and his name is irish also (hello!!) so they both have irish first names, family oriented middle names, and italian last names--i was like well, we are doing exactly what your mom did-- he felt like such an a$$ when he realized!!! LOL!!!

I know what you mean. I love Alexia and it will represent my Greek side, but FHs last name is pure Irish. I think it is fine!

I LOVE the name Cadance but FH insists that we use Italian names bc 'unique American' names don't sound right with his last name...
Fortunately I do like a lot of ethnic Italian names.

Teagan Josephine
(Teagan is a traditional Irish / Gaelic name and Josephine is after my Grandmother.)
I also like Charlotte a lot.

Julian is my fave and #1 choice and then: Liam and Aidan are names I also like.
So with middle names it will probably be:
Julian Kenneth (Kenneth is my fathers, brothers AND good friend's name--wow, so that was a no-brainer, lol). and:
Liam Patrick and:
Aidan (we are toying with Franklin as the middle?). I love Seamus (pronounced Shamus but my FH would never have it.

We are planning on having four children, if i could choose it would be three boys and a girl or two and two... we will start about 3 years after we are married (we are young, only 22 and 23 now).

Seamus is Irish for James... maybe there is important man in your lives (fathers , grandfathers) James... perhaps you can convince him that way???

We definitely wants of children and I have a lot of names that I love... but the decided ones already are

Sean (FH's name.... and the middle name possibly Patrick after my father, but if we have another boy, he would definitely be Patrick)

Mairead (Margaret in Irish, with the possible middle name of Geraldine after FH's mom who passed away)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the crazy *** Italian last name I am inheriting, I told FH that the kids are getting Irish names, no question. He laughed because he is Sean and the only reason his mother (who was from ireland ) named him Sean was because she was not going to name him Giovanni.. which is john in Italian...that is what his father wanted. so they compromised on Sean, which is John in Irish. So it can work, although when he's in Ireland people are like 'what's with the last name?' and when he's in Italy, people can't pronounce his first name...
