Baby names?

Original post by camposal

I dont know about you girls but whenever a friend of mine is pregnant and we go baby shopping, I cant seem to get babies off my mind. I just thought it would be fun to see when you gals plan to have babies and if already have names picked out.

I'll probably have children in about three years and my fav names are: Sophia, Chrisitina, Michael and Sean.

Alexa Mary (mary is my mom and gma's name)
Ava Morgan (i just like this one)
Elle ???? (my other gma is eleanor)

FH's last name is loooong and italian, so shorter first names are better!!
I have no idea on baby boy names - my FH, father (who passed away) and uncle (mom s brother who passed away) are all named michael, so michael will definitely be incorporated somehow!!

We definitely wants of children and I have a lot of names that I love... but the decided ones already are

Sean (FH's name.... and the middle name possibly Patrick after my father, but if we have another boy, he would definitely be Patrick)

Mairead (Margaret in Irish, with the possible middle name of Geraldine after FH's mom who passed away)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the name Mairead - but it totally does not go with my FH's last name!!

i totally want irish first names bc i am also getting a long italian last name!!

and my name is meaghan - which is the gaelic way to spell megan, so i am definitely irish!

Meaghan is not technically an Irish name... there is no word/translation for Meaghan in the Irish language... it is more of an Irish-American name. you would be hard pressed to find any megan/meagan/meaghan in Ireland. However, there are Meehans, and Mahons and Meagher (pronounced Mah-her) as last names in Ireland. Perhaps it was a derivitative of those last names???

my mom wanted to spell it megan - my great grandmother who was from ireland said she had to spell it Meaghan - megan is a variation of Margaret.

Re: Baby names?

Oh, I didn't know Meaghan was a varation of margaret. Margaret is Mairead in Irish. Your grandmother probably wanted the 'gh' in there because the h usually follows the letter g in the Irish language, (not always, but most of the time).
