Baby Nurse

OK so I am really clueless on this one--
Does anyone know about having one? No it is not for me and I don't think we would ever do this but one of my BM's said they are getting one for the first 2 weeks-- and she said that they work 24 hours
How is this possible? and where do you find these people? prices? etc?
I understand that you need help in the beginning but a total stranger
Has anyone ever had one? know of someone who did?

Re: Baby Nurse

A friend of mine hired a baby nurse for 4 weeks after her daughter was born.

It was a stranger, who came from an agency with references, an RN degree, and lots of experience with newborns. She came every day from 7am - 7pm, and her sole responsibility was the baby, and my friend said she was excellent at her job. Maybe too excellent...

My friend let her go after about 10 days because she felt she wasn't getting any bonding time with her own baby. The nurse did EVERYTHING, and if my friend said she would take care of something, the nurse would jump up and say, 'Oh no Mommy, this is your time to relax and rest! You and Baby have your whole lives together!'

My friend said the whole experience just wasn't for her...

I wouldn't do this for the same reasons that Jenn said her friend felt. Steve will be with me the first week and then my mom and sister said they would take some time off after he goes back to work. I know I would be really bothered by a stranger taking care of my little one. IMHO
