I'm helping plan my best friends baby shower, and was hoping someone could help me out.
She is very 'Anti-gift opening' at the shower. She wants everyone just to have fun and not have to sit and watch her open gifts. She's asking that we state somewhere on her invites not to wrap gifts.
is this to wierd? is there a nice way or poem tha can state that?

Why does she want them unwrapped? That sounds very odd to me...

Re: baby shower help
If thats what she wants, I would do it! I dont think its too weird, she will actually save people money.
maybe just state on bottom of invites, please dont wrap gifts.
smaller gifts you can have wrapped in cellophane paper so you can see thru it, some have designs. or do baskets but I dont know how you can add this to the invite.
good luck.

I can understand not wanting to open the gifts in front of guests, but I just don't get asking them to be unwrapped.

I think she wants them unwrapped so that people can see what she got without her having to do the whole 'unwrapping' .

Re: baby shower help
I think thats too weird personally. Totally fine if she doesn't feel comfortable opening the presents, but having them unwrapped so people can see without her unwrapping them to say thank you just doesn't seem right to me.
It feels more like a charitable donation/collection drive then a gift.

I don't agree with telling people not to wrap the gifts. I would just not have her unwrap them at the shower. Maybe you could take pictures of her opening gifts after the shower and put them in the thank you cards. It doesn't state anywhere that you have to open gifts at the shower, although thats where most of the fun is.

Re: baby shower help
Maybe suggest they put them in gift bags or just put bows on top??
Or I like the idea of just opening them at home later.
Really though people come and buy you the gifts to see you open it and see how excited/happy you are and for you to announce ' this is what so and so got me'
maybe instead of at opening them all at the end she can do it right at the begining to get it over with??

Re: baby shower help
Sorry...that is a bit rude IMO. People take the time to purchase you a nice gift and then you cannot take the time to open it and show your apperciation? Personally I would tell your friend that she is being a bit unfair to her guests with this request. Why not play Shower Bingo and make it fun for her and the guests?

I also think it is a bit rude. However, if she insists, maybe you could put an insert in the invitation stating that you would like to set up a 'gift display' and, if possible (emphasis on the 'if possible') to wrap their gift in cellophane.

I like the idea that soon2bemrsz had. Enclosing a picture of her opening the gift with the thank you. Neat and different. Was she like this with her bridal shower? If so the people who will be invited will most likely understand it.
