Baby shower & religion question

Do Jewish moms to be get baby showers?

unfortunately not all do
my mom is superstitious and I think it is absurd!!!!

I hope I will get one when the time comes but if she has any say I know I wont

I am having one because my husbands family is Irish and his sisters are making me one.............

It is tradtional not to have a baby shower in the Jewish religion because of bad luck, but a lot of Jewish moms it depends on the individual. My cousin who was semi religious had one, and my sister as well as I are not religious at all, I plan on giving her one when she has a baby. ( I hope she gets pregnant soon!)

my jewish GF was ADAMANT that we not throw her a shower. in the jewish faith, they do not bring anything into the house for the baby until the baby is born. the morning she went into labor we had to make the rounds of baby stores to pick up the essentials for her - car seat, formula, clothes, etc. luckily she was registered so it wasn't hard to do. she didn't even let her DH bring the bassinet into the house until after the baby was born. the only thing she allowed was the painting of the nursery, as she wanted the fumes gone before she brought the baby home!
