For the most part, we have all the kitchen covered, because when we moved in, babyproofing was already installed on the kitchen cabinets. But my question is, when did you start babyproofing your home? And, what did you do with breakable items (picture frames, figurines, etc) that weren't out of reach?
We moved into out apt when we got married (Sept), and have the apt pretty much completely furnished, but we never got the chance to do some 'home decor' (walls & floors are plain right now in all rooms). I'd like to get glass shelves for the bathroom, but DH is worried that 'what if one of us is clumsy, and accidentally knocks it down, and the baby crawls in the area, and gets cut?'. Valid concern... however, I'm due in August, and the baby probably won't be crawling around until probaby Spring of 2006... we should be good with having shelves for 15 months, no? I'd rather live comfy now, and change it later.

Re: Babyproofing your home...
Our house will be fully baby proofed by May we were planning on waiting till around the 3 month mark but Dh won't be around for so it will be done prior to the baby's birth.
I think for an August baby waiting till Spring might be a bit long if you have an active baby... basically them grabbing stuff, putting it in there mouth.. etc are there jobs for that entire first year once they can crawl and scoot around.
I wouldn't do the glass stuff yet, personally I am way to anal about cleaning and I know after the baby comes I will be slacking which will be beyond my control so even if technically the baby was safe I just wouldn't be able to handle the possible fingerprints and mess just from guesst, my husband or myself.

Re: Babyproofing your home...
Well... we haven't done any baby proofing yet (I'm due in July) and I really don't plan to do all that much. I'm not going to go crazy with that kind of stuff. Yes, we'll do the kitchen cabinets and cover the outlets, stuff like that but I'm really not too concerned.
Part of the reason is because our house is very barren right now.... we haven't really decorated or bought new furniture. The walls are bare and there definitely no small little trinkets and things hanging around.
As we continue to settle in, I'll just take the baby stuff into account.
