Babysitter (for once in a while)

I was wondering if any of you hired a babysitter? My family 'babysitters' are not as relaible as I would like.
Everytime my sister agrees all of a sudden she doesn't feel well that day. And my younger brother (my sons Godfather) always seems to be busy or gives us a time limit!

I'd rather have a family member but, when it's hard to get them to come over it gets frustrating! John & I would like a night out once in a while. I haven't had date w/ him since early October!

Tracy, I'm in the same boat. I've only used family members so far, and my son is almost 6!! I think it's time for me to find someone!! My family (my mom and sister) are usually good about watching him, but my mom is busy and my sister has her own problems right now...sometimes I feel like it's a burden for them.

If it's any help, I'm nearby, and kid friendly ...I'd be happy to watch your little man so you can get some adult time!

in my last school (a HS) I found a lot of teachers would hire their old students...(honors and AP kids)

could you find out from a local HS? OR BOCES has an early childhood program...which means that these students are educated in the needs of small children...i'm sure they have a babysitting network

I actually met my babysitter thru my husbands friends from work. It was a friend of their family -- I had mentioned how much I needed help when Aidan was an infant -- and they introduced me to her !! She was only a Sr in high school -- and she started coming when Aidan was 3 months old. I had her coming twice a week while Jim was at school -- I did not actually leave her alone until Aidan was like 9 months or so .. Now -- Aidan knows her so well --he is excited when she comes over -- and she loves him ! I really am lucky -- I want to make her sign something saying that she will never leave NY !!! LOL

Ask around-- you never know who you will find!
