My FH and I really wanted to have select children at our wedding but want to keep the number of children at a minimum. We still have a lot to discuss, but it seems that the best idea would be to find a baby sitter (s) to watch the children at a hotel. We have a lot of guests coming from out of town with children who don't have sitters they can leave the kids with themselves.
Has anyone ever arranged for a sitter? If so, did you use a family friend, someone who was recommended, or did you go through an agency? Help!

Re: Babysitter for Reception
For myself I didn't like this idea. Many parent do not like leaving the little ones with a stranger. Also I think that many parents will worry to much about the children and not have a good time. BUt if it works for you than go for it.

Re: Babysitter for Reception
I have a similar problem, my Flower Girl will just about be 3 at the time of the wedding and is not the most 'well-behaved' child in the world, and her mom is one of my bridesmaids. I told her mom she needed to have someone to either hang out with the baby in the bridal suite for the night or someone had to pick her up. She would be the ONLY child at a VERY grown up party. So far it hasn't caused an issue, but if I know my FSIL she'll wait until the week before to make a big deal out of it!

Re: Babysitter for Reception
My one FG will be three, and her little brother (15 months at time of wedding) I invited their grandparents, so they could watch and take the kids home. My ringbearers parents will be there too, but I think the 6 yr olds wil be fine dancing and what not till the end. Other than that, I'm not inviting kids, only because I am over my max now w/o kids on the list. Good Luck, I would look into the people who have kids in daycare, or someone who runs one out of their house and have them do it at the hotel. Parents (of which I am one) see awedding as a night out and usually don't WANT to bring their kids, they bring them caus ethey HAVE to, so if you set up a profesional, that is close by, it should work out.

Re: Babysitter for Reception
i went to a wedding where they hired a licensed professional & had that person watch the kids at a suite at the hotel everyone was staying at. We are doing the same for our wedding....haven't started looking yet, but will probably check daycare places for people or a service..good luck!
