Bachelor Party Dilemma

Bachelor Party Dilemma

Ok, so here is the deal. FH & I decided to do a joint Bachelor/Bachelorette Party. Mainly because he is the last of his siblings to get married and we can't do anything over night because they all have kids and have no one to leave the kids overnight with.

Which is fine with us because we really want to do one of those Spirit Cruises on the Hudson (booze cruise). We would rent a limo, go on the 3 hour cruise, and afterwards go to a comedy club.

Now, the most expensive option will come out to $373 pp, b ut includes an open bar and a private table at dinner. The second option is $337 pp and includes open bar but no private table

The third option is $289 pp and does not include an open bar.

Now, FH really wants to first option, but admits that it is pricey. I would be more than happy with the second option. The problem with the third option is that we already checked and each drink is $10 a pop and soda is $3 each. Keep in mind that the way things are done in our families is that we don't pay for anything that night because we are the bride and groom so if that is the case, they would each spend more than $40 on drinks each which would make more sense to upgrade to the second package which includes an open bar (which includes soda)

I think this is pricey, but everyone coming to the party, both FH & I have gone to theirs and we have blown more than $400 on each of them, seperately. so in a way, i don't feel too bad about asking them to spend that on me, but we already hear grumblings, which are inevitble....

I guess i just want to know...if this unreasonable? especially since i spent the same if not more on them?

It's not unreasonable but, if this were my friends, they would be freaked out by the upfront cost. The sticker shock is a lot when all the money is due at once. Chances are that they would spend that or more if it was a pay as you go night. Just make sure that they know all that is included. It sounds like fun!

i think that is what would freak out people more than anything else, but everything is included, including a comedy club that we would be going to afterwards.
the open bar and food is included in the cruise so food is already taken care of as well as liquor there!
i've been to parties where i have spent $250 on my portion of dinner alone and your right, you blow way mor emoney like that during the course of the night as you go...at least this way you already know how much you will be spending and its all inclusive

Is it just for an overnight?

For all your getting its not a bad price but some people might think its too much $.. I would ask them how they all feel and go from there. Make sure you tell them whats included.

a little bit of my problem too is that no one asked me how FH when we went to all of their B-parties if the cost was too much or would be ok. We just said ok and went. so, we already told them that its all included and some of them were all for the open bar because they knew they would end up saving money on alcohol and some of them couldn't get past the sticker shock even though everthing is all inclusive.

i feel like, if your going to complain because the money is too much then you don't have to come, so please don't make my life hell in the meantime with all the complaining. if you can't go for whatever reason, i'll be ok with it, b/c i will still have fun that night. if you are coming, then please don't let me hear you complaining...

To me it does sound a little pricey but if u've spent pretty much the same amount of money on ur friends, they should be able to do it for u too, are a lot of people going?

it would be for 8 hours. the cruise starts at 6:30 and ends at 11pm and then we would do a comedy club show afterwards.
this # also includes the cost of the limo to get everyone home instead of getting on a train or cab

Re: Bachelor Party Dilemma

how about doing the comedy club and going to a cool bar afterwards

or

do the cruise only (which include dinner and drinks), does the cruise have music?

Re: Bachelor Party Dilemma

I would think that is a lot but not for what you are getting. If you are fine with some of them not going than go for it.

the cruise includes a DJ

Re: Bachelor Party Dilemma

You still have to think that 275 x 2 (if some people are couples) is 550 (does that include the contribution for you or FH) because then it goes up even more

Re: Bachelor Party Dilemma

yes, these prices already include Fh & my portions for the evening

Re: Bachelor Party Dilemma

It's not that bad plus if that is what you really want to do tell people this is what we are doing, here is the price and then you have to be okay with people saying no

Re: Bachelor Party Dilemma

It definitely has sticker shock... but you're right, they'd end up paying the same if not more if you just went out! IF that's what you really want, I would let people know

it is a lot but you are getting a lot for it. If you;ve spent that much for them then Im sure they expect to do the same. If they complain then to be honest its messed up if they asked you to pay that in the past. JMO

when my sister got married in '09 i spend more than $300 on her and when FH went to my BIL's B-party he spent over $500 because they did a weekend away at AC.

For FH's sister when she got married in '08 we each spent over $300 pp for their B-parties, so it would be pretty messed up if they didn't come now
