Please tell me if you would be upset about this bachelor party drama………here's the story (sorry its so long!!):
I'm going to my friends wedding in Ireland from 7/31 to 8/05…..I'm not going away for my bachelorette party unlike FH (he's going to Vegas) so I was hoping his party would be at the same time I go to Ireland, so at least I'm not sitting home the week he goes away.
A few weeks ago he told me that they were going to go to Vegas the week of July 4th b/c one of his friends has a timeshare there and they had reserved that week…..so at first I didn't like him having it so early (hello, over 2 months before our wedding), but then I figured it's a timeshare and there's not much they can do about it.
Fast forward to today……I find out that b/c one of the 12 guys going to Vegas has a BBQ every year on July 4th, they moved it to the following week- they're going July 8th to July 15th……which now I'm annoyed b/c if they were going to change the week and therefore not use the timeshare, I wish they would've went with the same week I'm going to be in Ireland.
Now for the WORST part……..b/c FH is apparently really insensitive, he didn't care that during that one week he'll be away, he's missing two of our anniversaries!!! July 8th makes one year we're engaged (I would've liked to go out to dinner), and July 14th is our dating anniversary. He's trying to tell me that he didn't have a say in the date b/c the guys planned it out, I told him I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't check w/ him before booking the plane tickets to find out which dates worked best for him.
I am so upset right now, I wish I wasn't at work, b/c I really want to cry, and I absolutely HATE fighting with him. I sent him an e-mail and he hasn't read it yet, I hope we're on speaking terms when I go home tonight!!
Thanks for listening to me vent!!

So sorry that your're upset. I'm sure he didn't even think about the dating anniversary and engagment...guys just don't see 'the big deal' on that stuff.
i'd be upset, but what can ya do? yeah i know that you are sad you'll be home alone at his bach. party, but he'll be home alone when you are in ireland. so you both will have that happening.

yeah you definitely make a good point, that he'll be home alone too, but I guess me going to a wedding just doesn't seem as bad as him being in Vegas for a week, ......I just wish this would have been planned out better. you are so right, I know he probably didn't even realize the significance of the dates. thanks for the advice!!!

omg i soooo feel for u on this one... i find it SO disrespectful for the GM to not include you on the plans to make sure its OK... trust me, we also got into a huge blowout over this whole thing too... not for nothing, you know damn well that our BP ask our FHs if the shower date, bachelorette date etc.. is OK with HIM! Why not the other way around?!??! I HATE MEN!

you are hysterical!!! I'm glad I'm not alone......I didn't expect the GM's to ask me, but I would expect FH to let them know what works for him....I can't imagine my BM's planning my bachelorette party without knowing if I could even make it!!! I just don't understand why this had to be so difficult.

Don't worry Helen! I'll make sure you have a great old time at my wedding! I'll have the Irish dancers give you a little lap dance at the reception!
All joking aside... you guys really need to sit down and talk and he needs to realize that relationships are about compromise and he needs to consider you and your feelings when he makes decisions... most girls don't let their significant other be as independent as you do so he should feel lucky that he has a girl like you and shouldn't take advantage of it! Good luck with the talk and have fun at Jen's wedding tomorrow! Can't wait to see pix!

Im so sorry!!! i really hope that your FH realizes how much of a big deal this really is and comes to his senses and calls his GM up and tells him we need to change the week of the party b/c its our anniversary AND hed rather have it when you are in Ireland. That is just so ridiculous and inconsiderate i would also be so upset

I'd be upset too, but guys don't really feel the same about these special dates like we do. After you get married you will celebrate your wedding anniv every year together. Unfortunately not many still celebrate their first date, or engagement. It's all about the wedding anniversary!

Oh, Helen I am so sorry that you are so upset over what is going on!! Like the other ladies have said, I am sure that he didn't even think about the 2 anniversaries, as most guys wouldn't remember. It's just how they are! Talk to him tonight when you get home, tell him about the anniversaries and about the fact that you would rather he go when you are in Ireland. Since they moved the date for the BBQ maybe they will move it again! Try to be calm and let him know what is going thru your head... he won't know unless you tell him. Whatever happens, it will come and go before you know it- and then will be a distant memory!!

unfortunately I don't think they can change it, one of his GM supposedly booked the airfare & hotels without checking with him on the date....so at this point I know it's going to happen that week whether I like it or not, I just feel annoyed how FH isn't even saying 'oh I'm sorry we couldn't have had it the same week' instead he's saying, 'I don't understand why it even effects you, it has nothing to do with you'........I just don't think he gets it!!!

I guess I would be upset too, they changed it because of a BBQ??? Hello isn't this the grrom's time to shine?? Since they are not going to change it then maybe when he is away you could have a get together with your girls and just have some time to you and your friends and family before you become a wife. Make the best out of it and just think he is yours for the rest of your lives.
