Bachelor Party for FI (Best man vent)

We have less than 4 weeks before our wedding, and I found out that the best man has done absolutely NOTHING for FI's bachelor party. I spoke with him several weeks before and he had some ideas but needed a guest list. When I told FI to send the best man a guest list, he said he did. I told the best man that I would give him some money to help pay for the bachelor party since he doesn't really have a job, which he accepted. The best man has talked about giving FI a bachelor party since January, but nothing as of today is set. The best man has a habit of not following through on things and I feel so bad for my FI because the best man is leading him to believe that he is having a bachelor party. This is the 2nd time the best man has been in this role and he acts like he is the expert on being a best man, but has done nothing for FI so far. Should I get involved and just start making plans for a bachelor party so that there is something for FI? I feel so bad for my FI because he doesn't deserve this. The best man has a history of saying he's going to do something or going to show up somewhere and not do it (he didn't show up to my birthday party last year after telling me he would show up an hour before).

I also found out last night that the best man has yet to send his measurements to the tux place. He is so lame!!!

Re: Bachelor Party for FI (Best man vent)

Are there other GM's that you could contact to get the ball rolling? If so call some of them and explain what is going on. If not call him again!!!! What a jerk, your poor FH!!!

Re: Bachelor Party for FI (Best man vent)

Claudia, we're in the same shoes, and Lenny is saying that one month ahead is too early for a bachelor party!!!

I sent a hint o the best man saying that he better organize somehting no later than 2 weeks before, b/c otherwise FH will be really busy and wont' enjoy himself. But looks like FH is organizing his own bachelor party too (well he is deciding where they're going, etc)

Re: Bachelor Party for FI (Best man vent)

My FI may have to get involved, though I was hoping it would be a surprise. Unfortunately, one GM is in California and is moving this week to another part of that state. The other GM, my brother, is in school 8 hours a day and works 8 hours a day. Apparently he's in a very hard program (he's studying to be a radiologist). However, I left messages for my brother and he has yet to return them, so I'm a bit miffed with him as well. I guess my gripe with the best man is that he comes up with these great ideas and tells my FI that he's going to have a great time at his bachelor party, but then does no planning! I was upset when I wrote earlier this morning, but venting here on the boards made me feel a bit better! Thanks!

Re: Bachelor Party for FI (Best man vent)

Claudia

I am having the exact same problem. Our best man was supposed to take Frankie to Vegas. This was something that was supposed to have been in the plans for the past 2 years. (FH was paying for himself-- all BM had to do was make the arrangements) I called him yesterday to say I need to know when because I have appointments I need to book. He has not done anything. I said to him there are 6 weekends left before the wedding! He has not even started to plan his regular bachelor party.

I know what you are going through. I am also giving him 1 more week to do something before I call in reinforcements!
