Bachelor Party Invite Etiquette

Bachelor Party Invite Etiquette

I have a question about invitation etiquette...

FH's Best Man and GMs are in the process of planning his bach. party, and one of the GM's added a old friend onto the email chain without running it by FH first . . Meanwhile, FH wasn't planning on inviting this person.

My question is, now that he is invited to the bach party, do we have to invite him to the wedding? My thought is yes, but I wanted to check with the experts

I think you're right. I would think you have to now. It would be rude to not invite him to the wedding after he was invited to the bach party. jmo

Yeah, we had this happen to us. FH GM that is planning his bach party invited a guy that FH is friends with but we did not plan on inviting him to the wedding. Well, the GM invited him to the bach party and I told FH the right thing to do is invite him to the wedding also.

I'm not sure..I would say yes, but my best friends cousin who I know for years but aren't extremely close said she wants to come to mine but we aren't inviting eachother to the weddings. I just see her at family functions here and there. I think it depends on the situation.

I just ran into this with my party. A girl kind of invited herself to the bparty so i felt obligated to invite her to the wedding when i wasnt originally going to. I just found out today my cousin never spoke to her to confirm she was coming so as of now she isnt so i took her and her husband off the wedding guest list too. That frees up 2 more spots....yay

For what it's worth, I've been to bachelor parties where I haven't been invited to the wedding. I was invited to the bachelor party because I'm fun and know how to have a good time. It didn't really bother me, but of course the situation here could be different.

i think you totally have to. it's like when people invite people to their engagement parties, but not the weddings. i think that's a slap in the face if you don't....

I don't think you have to. I've gone to batchelorette parties for people whose wedding I wasn't invited to (tagged along on my friend's sister's for example). I wasn't offended by any means and I was happy that they thought to include me on the fun night out. I just had my batchelorette party and an old, old roommate who I haven't spoken to in ages is still friends with a mutual friend- the old roommate was happy to come and have fun. I think people understand that they aren't super close with you but are happy for the opportunity to have a fun night out. Besides, they can always decline the batchelor party invite.

I agree (with the disagreement). An engagement party entails a gift and is usually pretty intimate. A bachelor(ette) party is a bit more of a grey area. This is a very strange situation and I would be kind of annoyed by it, but I think use your judgement. If this person would have never made it on the list to begin with, don't add another plate or two to your budget because someone else messed up. If they would have been on a B or C list, it's something to consider.

I think it would be rude to invite someone to the Bach Party if they were not going to be invited to the wedding. I understand in this situation it was out of FH's control, but it would be the right thing to do.

I don't think so. I think the only people you are 'ogligated to invite are those who received a std'. Imo, any bach party is different.
