Bachelor Party Rant

Bachelor Party Rant

I am so sick of hearing about bachelor parties. I really wish I got married like 15 years ago when they didn't go away for 7 days to South America for a FREAKIN BACHELOR PARTY!!!! This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. And this bachelor party isn't even for FH, it's for one of his best friends who is getting married like 6 months before us. Now I trust FH 110% so that's not the issue... it's the time off and the money. We're paying for our wedding 100% by ourselves and neither one of us are exactly rolling in dough so it's so aggravating that this is something he 'HAS TO DO'.. Uggghhh I am so pissed right now!!! Rant over! Thanks for listening!!

i totally agree that these have all gotten out of hand.. and its the time off and money that makes me mad too!! those week long vacations can cost over $1000! these stupid boys just dont get it, and when you say no they think your a controlling psycho, and not because your being a rational adult

Has I feel the same way I could care less if he went away for a week I just don't want him spending thousands of dollars on someone's bachelor lol

A week is a bit excessive, but as long as it isn't coming out of your wedding budget or your pocket then I wouldn't freak out.

Yea we are doing the old fashion 'one night out' locally - I dont think its fair to expect the bridal party to lay out any more money than they already are.

This!

And that is A LOT of money to expect someone to pay for a bachelor party! What happened to getting drunk at a bar? AC for the weekend? Damn!

YES thank you!! When did guys start doing this!!
FH's brother was like 'Oh you need a week for your bachelor party' and I said NOPE lol because we need to take a week off for our HONEYMOON and I'd rather you didn't use up your days off for that AND the money you'll spend while you're there.
My bridesmaids are not even planning a weekend I think, people work all weird hours and I just don't know. So annoying!
At least FH said he won't do a week anyway because he can't take all that time off either way.

I feel your pain sweetie! Unfortunately its one of those situations that he would want his boys to do it for him, so he probably has to reciprocate. If anything see if he can go for 4 days instead of 8 days to save some money? Just a thought!

Thanks ladies!!! I knew you'd understand!!! It looks like he'll only go for 4 days cause he has his own Bachelor Party plus our honeymoon to think of ... the money sucks because just cause it's not literally out of my pocket doesn't mean it doesn't affect me! But there's nothing I can do ...

As soon as FH and I asked our bridal party to be part of our special day (it consists of our brothers and sisters), my MOHs asked where I wanted to fly to. Its nice to know they would want to do that but I told them NO! as I didn't feel right about them having to spend more money than they had to. So I said I'll compromise and we could do an overnight stay somewhere close. I don't get the idea of the men saying 'its the last time they are single'... HELLOOOO.... you haven't been single for a while. What's the point.

I had never heard of bachelor/bachelorette parties being week/weekend-long events before visiting LIW... haha. I personally find that to be a bit excessive & unnecessary. I have no idea what I'm doing for a bachelorette party, honestly, I don't care whether I even have one or not. My fiance' is basically planning his with his Best Man... a Mets game, brewery tour & dinner. Nothing elaborate.

They're not or most of them aren't anyway, but there's nothing we can do about it. When I try to argue about it FH says ' What am I not supposed to go to one of my best friends bachelor party' I don't know what to say to that.

That sucks. I would be so pissed off if it was my FH. Thats completely unnecessary. I think we are doing a joint party in AC.

Who is the turd who booked the week anyway! Let me guess the one single guy in the group......

definitely this! it sounds like the guys planning it are doing so because it is what they want, not necessarily what the groom wants. unfortunately i think it happens a lot.
