ok so next saturday is my BP. i planned what we were going to do, which doesnt bother me. the main reason i planned it was b/c my sister is 35 with 3 young kids and i know that she has her hands full. we talked it over and she said she wouldnt feel comfortable doing what i wanted to do and that it would be too late for her b/c she has to get up early to take care of them. so we came to the conclusion that she would take me out to dinner and a movie, which is fine with me...
anyhow, since all i have is a MOH, i couldnt really ask my friends to plan and pay for something, so i figured i would plan something, nice and simple for a BP in the city. we are starting out a champagne bar called flute then having dinner at blue ribbon (one of my favs). after dinner bar hopping. 3 of my friends live in the city and the other 4 live on long island or will be in LI at that time. so i sent out an email that we would have a 'get together' b/c i didnt want to call it a BP. they were all cool with that. i also expressed my wishes of having NO limo as i didnt see it needed and way too much money.
i have other issues with doing a limo, in that i feel that a BP should be low key with dinner and drinks. I am fine with taking a train and i actually prefer it.
a week ago my friend called and said 'hey are we taking limos?'. i said there is no need, we can take the train. she goes on about how she doesnt want to sit on a train for 3 hours (i live in massapequa, no way is it 3 hours). i said we will just take a train it isnt THAT bad. she says fine.
so last nite i was talking with a co worker about how i didnt want certain things (like phallic toys to walk around with and veils). it just isnt for me. so i sent out a tactful email stating to please refrain from that stuff and limos.
so today i find out the friend that was complaining went and booked a limo against my wishes. she said she put down a $300 deposit and i am fuming! i stated from the get-go that i am not interested in a BP with bells and whistles, it isnt me. just a simple nite with friends a great dinner and of course an unending supply of alcoholic sustances. she was arguing with me how i have to have a limo and it is her gift to me. so she turned it around into making me look ungrateful. i finally got really nasty and said listen i do not want a limo! when you have your party you can have a limo, but for now this is my party.
am i being a total bridezilla??

To be honest - yes I think you are. You should be grateful that your friends want to do this which is something nice...for you! I mean what's really the big deal...so you take a limo now and life will be a lot easier than taking the train!

Hmmm. I have to disagree since I think the main reason she got a limo was for her conveinence, not yours. However, since she has already booked the damn thing I would go ahead with it as long as the rest of the night is what you envision. Plus, the upside of the limo is that after a night of alcohol, you might be happy not to worry about getting home.

she is the one who went and booked it, i was very clear about having a non BP. the other three that live in the city do not want it. she is trying to collect money from them and they do not see the need to pay for a limo. so the three that live in the city are kind of upset and i dont blame them.

I think that's really nice of her to give that to you as a gift. I don't think she did it to go against your wishes but thought you'd maybe like it and were just taking the train to save everyone some money. JMO.

I think if she wants to pay for the entire limo, then let her... that's a very nice gift. I don't see a problem with that.
If she does really expect ANYONE else to chip in on it, then it's a problem. Then they would be chipping in on something that you clearly don't have any interest in.
I personally LOVE limos, and would appreciate it. I HATE the train (I'm the opposite of you! lol)

Oh well that's not what you originally said...you said it was her gift to you. You didn't say she was trying to collect from other girls. In that case than she should just pay for the entire thing herself since it was for her convenience.

I don't think you're being a Bridezilla. I think your friend is trying to turn this around on you.
That said, it doesn't need to get nasty, just take the limo. As long as she stops asking your other friends for money, because this was HER decision.

absolutely not! If you don't want a limo you shouldn't have one. Especially since you've planned the BP.

Re: bachelorette party 'issues' (kinda long)
I mean, you've said no limos all along and everyone else banked off of that....$4 round trip subway rides (and even $25 round trip train rides) are far sweeter than 1/5 of $800+ for a limo. She should not have booked such a thing before she had $$$ from everyone and the go ahead, which she did not have. You planned the whole thing anyway...who is she to come in and try to change it????
Maybe I'm just mad for you b/c FH was being moody at lunch...but I don't think you are being a bridezilla.....and I don't think that the other friends should ante up the $$$ either...if they are against it and you are as well, then don't chip in and don't take the ride either. I'm with you....it's fun to hop on the train or subway for a little fun in the city. Personally I'm always a little bummed when I'm driven in....nothing says NYC like walking out of a subway or train station!

I agree, she should pay for it herself being that she is the one who wants it the most, and booked it on her own...
Just take the limo, I'm sure you'll appreciate it in the end...
