Okay, so I've been to the following florists: Flower Michelle Burtons LA Blossom Signature Nat'l Floral Wholesale Pedestals Masters & Co (well not really since I had an appointment and things got mixed up and then they blew me off) and 4 non-wedding florists.
I thought I had it narrowed down to either LA Blossom, or Signature, but I'm not crazy about the sample I got from one of them (it's dead after only 4 days) and the other can't do a sample before I book b/c the flowers aren't available at this time of year.
I'm getting very frustrated and I don't know where else to look. Any other suggestions ladies??? I want to just start over.

Re: Back to the Drawing Board - Help!
I used Atlantic Floral Showcase in Freeport. I know they are not talked about too much but they were really great. People still talk about my flowers-years later!

I am surprise you weren't impressed with Flower Michele. I have heard only good things so, much in fact that I visited Flower Michele and decided to book with them. I did not want your every day wedding flowers and together we brainstormed and came up with something wonderfull. I plan to book with him next Saturday

I am using Nacy from Open house Country. Very nice person and nice work. I am not getting a sample centerpiece, I didn't even ask for one. I am suprised you didn't like Flower Michele or La Blossoms, so many girls use them on here. I have never heard anything bad about either one, and LIW girls flowers always look beautiful.

Re: Back to the Drawing Board - Help!
John (from Flower Michele) and I just did not hit it off AT ALL!! He kept telling me he wouldn't guarantee he could get what I wanted, and then he gave me a price quote that was waaaay high compared to everyone else.
As for LA Blossom, I really really liked Laurie, I even talked with her more than once, but I really can't afford her, and it's her sample that is dead after 4 days.

The East Wind house florist ( I think it is shorham) does a really nice job. I have been to a lot of East Wind weddings and they all got the flowers from the house florist. great job.

I didn't know their 'house florist' wasn't one of their recommended vendors.

La Blossom is expensive? I was thinking of checking her out. I didn't think she would be too expensive. Hmmmmmmm........

No, she is not expensive, just more than I wanted to spend. In fact, everyone except Signature and Nat'l Floral Wholesale were more than I want to spend. Laurie was right inline with the other wedding florists (except Flower Michele who was way higher).

To be honest, I don't think it is bad that the flowers died after four days. I mean they are supposed to look gorgeous the day of your wedding. I don't have high expectations that the flowers will last more than a few days...

I went to see (this weekend)
La Blossom Open House Country Sugar Magnolias
Previous
Flowers by Susan Simply Stems
I have to say, I have not recieved the price of the ones I saw this weekend, but it literally comes down to price right now...They EACH had wonderful ideas, they ALL were friendly, sweet, someone I felt I could trust and feel comfortable with...
If the flowers die in 4 days...i dont think it is a big deal...why do they need to last longer? I mean hey, it would be nice, but as long as it looks spectacular the day of thats what matters...
Also, The top three I mentioned, and since you are checking out LA Blossom are more 'designers' they do one possibly two (and I dont even think they do) weddings at a time...they spend their time on you, they make sure everything is perfect, not just for drop off, BUT they want to know that their flowers /reputation is in tact , the money may be a little more
Maybe there are corners that can be cut so that you can stick within your budget
good luck, trust me, Flowers have been my biggest battle...and since i dont even know cost yet it is making me a bit nutty too-
It is a tough choice! Go with your gut!

sugar magnolias does BEAUTIFUL work as well!! she is rather pricey though...if i had no budget and i never heard of Nancy from Open House Country I would have booked Heidi from Sugar Magnolias in a heart beat... i used to work at a catering hall where she did a lot of the work... you always knew when it was her stuff coming through the door! nancy and heidi do have very similar styles though...

With regard to the flowers dying after four days, this is the way I look at it, if I buy my mother a bo-k of flowers (or an arrangement) for Mother's Day, how long do I expect it to last? Answer - at least a full week, Sunday to Sunday. Why should I settle for less with wedding flowers that I'm paying big bucks for, and that my guests will be taking home???
