Backhanded compliments

Like Jessica's D to the H, mine had a semi-backhanded compliment for me last night.

He was going through the wedding pics to make his parent's photo album/scrapbook and said,

'Wow. Look at how skinny you got. For the wedding.'

I said, 'Why are you saying that in the past tense?' and he said, 'Aw, you look good now. But you REALLY looked great for the wedding.'

Have you gotten any backhanded compliments lately from DH or anyone else?

DH knows better...other people - not so much...

I second this!! JW would never make a comment like that, because he knows it is a little hurtful.

And Chrissy is spot on. Greeny is a hottie!!

Aw, thanks ladies.

In his defense, I have gained back 15 pounds! This week started my being-good phase and I'm eating right. This weekend I start exercising again.

And I just got a major hair chop but I can't decide whether I like it yet or not.

TOTALLY!!! You can't say something like that and NOT provide the photographic proof!!

I might actually take a scissor to it, or have DH do it, so I can figure out if it's this one piece that is ruining it for me. If I'm not too embarassed then, I'll take the pics.

he wasn't commenting...I asked him a question, and he answered honestly.

he doesn't ever give 'backhanded' compliments. If he doesn't like the way I look, he says nothing...then I know...he just wasn't 'feelin' it.

it's simple...sometimes it sux because I want him to like what I look like, especially when I think I've tried really hard, but I'd rather he be completely honest with me then let me believe in something that was not real. that I hate more than anything.

I was showing DH pics of me early in my pregnancy - I was like - look how good I looked - I was sooo thin!!!

He was ike - yeah, but you lost all that weight from morning sickness 1st
