Currently right now, I'm leaning towards CLM for my reception on October 5th. However, FI is stalling and if we don't book that date, we'll be left out.
So I called a few places for backup, all being available on the orginal wedding date (September 28) and I am wondering which one is the best of all of them. Here's the few places in consideration.
Bridgeview YC (closest to being like CLM, being a waterfront property)
Crescent BC (most expensive when it comes to having the ceremony)
Fox Hollow (open on that date but no rates yet)
Bourne Mansion (has a site fee and can only do an indoor ceremony)
Woodbury CC (least expensive of the 5 but more than CLM)
I also called one in Upstate NY, the Belvedere Mansion, and it's also very pretty.
Which one is the best backup option? I just want the date to be offically booked so he and I can focus on other things. Plus I much rather wanna be married on 9/28 than 10/5. Hey, it's a week sooner. LOL

Re: Backup RHs advice
it depends on what your taste is and the whole feel for your wedding you're going for...dont forget that everyone on here has a different vision and different interests...Some ppl dont want a waterfront wedding, others like more cozy romantic places and so on...So go with what best suits you.
Since you are leaning towards CLM, seems like you may want a waterfront wedding...so figure between bridgeview and Crescent beach club

Re: Backup RHs advice
I'm just happy that after really having a heart-to-heart w/ FI about how much should we really spend, it was great to have a wide range of choices. At first I wanted the Crescent but I heard it would be too much money. So for what they offered wasn't as bad as I thought.
As for what is really important, since we're not having a church ceremony, it is very important to have a beautiful place for the ceremony. As long it's romantic and sweet. Oh and of course, they have to have great food too.

Land's End is my RH, they are also on the water and are one wedding at a time. They are approximately the same price as Crescent.

I checked Lands End and it's not available on the date that I wanted. However, Lands End is beautiful too and have considered it.

CLM is beautiful, but if that doesnt work out for you, Bridgeview, CBC, Surf CLub in New Rochelle are all very nice if you want a water view wedding

Re: Backup RHs advice
I called Surf Club and all they did was took down my information and that's it.
I read a few reviews and the Crescent looks hella beautiful. Bridgeview looks pretty too. I'm going to look into the Ventian.

Re: Backup RHs advice
Of course everyones opinion is different but for me the Crescent is the most beautiful. I fell in love as soon as I walked in. My only concern was that if it rained and the ceremony had to be inside, the room wasn't that nice. I couldn't boo kit anyway because it was too far for me and a lot of my guests. If I lived closer, I probably would be getting married there.

I checked the Venetian and it isn't that bad. I am wondering can you have an outdoor ceremony there too?
Maybe I should push for the CBC if CLM is gone. After all, it does have it on the date that we orginally wanted. Plus, it would kinda go with the island theme we're going for since they already have that kind of theme. Hopefully that date won't go away fast so we can choose that place. Bridgeview is great too and could be my 3rd backup.

Re: Backup RHs advice
I talked to FI today (even though he actually called to see if I was feeling better with the flu) and he's more than okay with the Crescent. I am planning to meet with him in TnT in a few weeks (his job now transfered him to TnT) so we can catch up on wedding planning and make a decision. I most likely going to spend a 3 weeks there. By then we can finally put a deposit on a place, which ever is available by that time.

I dont know how big your wedding will be but when we went to the venetian, we were not allowed to have a ceremony outside there because we couldnt use the rooms that needed to accompany the outside ceremony (because we wouldnt have enough people)...it was really frustrating so check into that if you decide to look there

Re: Backup RHs advice
Our wedding is between 150-175 guests and I much rather have the wedding outside than inside (unless we have to because of rain).
VYC looks pretty but my heart is already on CLM and CBC.
