Is anyone else having a backyard e-party.....I feel like I am the only one having one. My cousin (who is marrying DF's friend) is having a fancy e-party but DF and I wanted to just a big summer BBQ Luau with all our family and friends. I know I shouldnt compare what I am doing to what my cousin is doing, but her e-party is before mine and I feel like everyone will be comparing the two. DF and I are getting married first......

I just think the family will be comparing the two parties, and I dont want that to happen...I feel like people willbe dissapointed in mine

Backyard parties are the best...FH and I were planning on doing one in may at my parents house, but my parents threw us a suprise one last month....inside the house!!! We will be having another one for most of our friends outside once the weather gets nicer.

I think backyard parties are the best. And I think no one will compare it....If anything they will say how much they like the back yard one better. It's more casual and relaxed. So people will tend to have more fun!!! I think it's a great idea. I want my shower in our back yard!!!

You're not the only one, Ive seen quite a few people doing that, i think they are alot of fun and you should do what makes you happy...FH and I both live in queens and dont have a backyard big enough to hold the amount of guests we had, otherwise FH's mom was talking about doing that but then after we did the guest-list it was just too much

Thanks for the support ladies....MUCH APPRECIATED.....It just stinks that we are both getting married around the same time and my DF and my cousin's DF have the same friends and we have the same family that their will be a lot of comparisons. My cousin has a lot more money than me to spend on a wedding....so I am sure hers will be over the top.......

Every engagement party i went to was at the house or someone else house in the backyard. If i was going to have a eparty that is what i would do because i rather be more informal then a big production that seems like a mini wedding. Unless your having a ton of people at the eparty then its understandable to have it in a bigger venue to hold that many people.

We are bringing in tents, tables chairs, caterer and bartenders......decorating the whole backyard for a LUAU....I think it will be fun.

No one is throwing an e-party for us , but I LOVE your idea! You could have so much fun with it. There is a whole luau section in the Oriental Trading catalog.

i think that sounds real nice and alot of fun. I don't know i am just a person who LOVES bbq's so i am always down for one. I even joked with my MOH to do a bbq bridal shower lol

I know this may be late, but I am so jealous...I wish we had a backyard big enough to have it there. I love your idea and you'll have a blast. I think the bakyard party is probably more me but just no room.

I went to a backyard eparty this past summer- it was so nice! It was very casual and low key, but everyone seemed to be having fun. But that is the only eparty I have ever been to so I have nothing to compare it to.

I think a backyard eparty would be so much fun. If we had a smaller family and were having the party in warmer months, we definatly would have gone that route. I have a few friends and family friends that are getting married around the same time I am, and I know its so easy to get caught up with 'keeping up with the jonses' so to speak. I'm sure that all your family really cares about is celebrating you as a couple!!!

im having a backyard BBQ e-party.
we are very excited. we wanted an e-party, and my parents graciously offered to help with all the cooking, and setting up.
we are thinking about doing it at the end of june.
