we are also having an eparty in my FIL's back yard.....they had one for their other son who got married and wanted to do it for us as well.......we had so much fun at my FBIL's that i agreed to do it in the yard.....my mom keeps asking me if im sure this is what i want bc she wants to do the whole big party thing but thats not me!!! I would rather be laid back and relaxed....the wedding is going to be stressful enough why would i want to do it twice?

we did a backyard/house party too...that's what i wanted, and i loved it. everyone had a great time b/c it we were at my fsil's house, it was laid back, everyone walked around and mingled, and it was just really nice.

i don't think anyone will compare. you and your cousin are 2 diff people, and diff people like diff things. i think your family will love both of your parties. and they'll like the fact that they're not the same thing.

Is anyone else having a backyard e-party.....I feel like I am the only one having one. My cousin (who is marrying DF's friend) is having a fancy e-party but DF and I wanted to just a big summer BBQ Luau with all our family and friends. I know I shouldnt compare what I am doing to what my cousin is doing, but her e-party is before mine and I feel like everyone will be comparing the two. DF and I are getting married first......

I am having mine in june it wont bee to hoot yet (hopefully) i was gonna do BBQ but thats a lot of food to bbq so i am gonna make the food with some of my friends or just put out snacks and order dishes from an italian place and do a buffet!

I am doing the same, & I can't wait!!!! I am getting a dance floor & dj as well. The best part about having an e-party outdoors is that you are not restricted to just 4 hours. You can end it whenever you want.

We are having our E-party on July 7 and it is a pool party, BBQ, Hawaii style party too! Fh and I love BBQ's, and being outside...so we thought it was perfect. Plus I love celebrating at home with close family members.

backyard parties are a BLAST we have done them for our grad parties and etc and people always had the best time. don't think that your party wont be as great because its not at a fancy place. youcan make yours awesome in a BY. If you need an idea about centerpieces FM me and I can show you what we did for my sis's grad party.

Or you can do mini tiki's for centerpieces.

I am so jealous of your idea for a backyard eparty! I dont have a backyard (we rent an apartment), my parents are in North Carolina and FH's parents are in Staten Island with a TINY backyard. I wish we had some outdoor space! I would do the same thing as you - I would get tents, a dj, delish catered food from our favorite restaurant (or let my dad barbeque), a bartender and probably some portapotties.

Your idea sounds great! It sounds like so much fun! Dont worry about what that other girl is doing, your party will be great!

Re: Backyard E-Party

Hi. I've viewed so many different posts...but have never made one...So in a way I'm new

We are planning our e-party for june 23rd and we are having it in our backyard. I think backyard parties are much more personal..and you can do it as informal or formal as you want.

We rented a tent...and are having a beach/laua theme. I love some of the decorations for a laua but I didn't want loud colors and crazy bright decorations everywhere....so I decided to use mostly light pastels...with sand...seashells...sandollars...and many many many candles on the tables inside the tent and then bring in some of the laua theme in a more toned down way.

For instance, we are having a tiki bar made from grass and bamboo...and ofcourse because it is entirely to omuch to rent or buy for my thrifty personality...so Im making it. . i found really nice martini and coloada glasses at a garage sale. I'm going to display them on the bar with 'the speciality drink of the day' Then I bought small plastic surfboards that i will wright on to list the drinks. Also, polynesian looking candles displayed on the bar, white paper lanterns hanging in the tent and placed around the pool.

Oh...i can go on forever...tell me what u think and I can share many more ideas with you.....(im also making a beach/bonfire area in one corner of the yard!

My whole goal for our e-party is to have it elegant and fun with a beach/polynesian theme..... and ofcourse the cheapest way possible. I am a nut with clearance & sale items and dollar trees. Very cheap $ but definately not cheap in appearance. It's difficult to do...but definately do-able.

Hey...is this 'way' too long for a post?? You guys have to let me in on whats acceptable here. I could go on forever...lol

Re: Backyard E-Party

I'm doing this I can't wait either. Actually I'm so glad someone brought this up b/c I was feeling left out seeing all these restaurant/hall e-party's. Anyway FH and I feel more comfortable in this kind of setting, we didn't want anything too formal. We're doing a clam bake and having a tent set up, plus there will be a pool as well for the youngers...I think its something everyone will enjoy freinds and family
