Backyard tents ??

Should I buy one or rent one ??

We're having JA's birthday party in early Oct, and we're thinking of renting one. But then since we'll be sure to need one very often for parties and BBQ's we thought maybe its a good idea to buy one?
How much do they run? Are they bulky to store?

Home Depot and Kmart sell them for between $20 and $50 ea depending on the size. They all fold down pretty small for storage.

do you want a tent with sides or one of those canopies that have no side? We have a canopy and its pretty easy to put up and pretty small to store it. It was less than $200 I think!!

Re: Backyard tents ??

I would just want something sturdy, and not something that would tip over in wind or rain
I think we'd get the pricier one mentioned. and them im debating whether we'd get 2 small ones or one bigger one. It wouldnt be more than lets say 40 people. and im sure everyone wont be under the tent at the same time...

I like the one in the picture, but then im wondering about the ones that cover the sides, incase its raining you still wont get wet if theres a bunch of you under it. make sense ?

We just bought a new one--but let me preface thsi by saying there is no way you will fit 40 people under it-- We got it at Costco(about $200) and it is a 10X10.
We had another 10X10 that we bought at Kmart that was no where as good quality(ie you had to put each pole together- the new one 'pops' up in one piece)
The 10X10 can fit one table and walk around room so we use it to cover the patio so that the food isnt out in the sun, etc---
Renting- that def gets expensive but sometimes you can find them in the pennysaver from people who buy them and rent them out as opposed to a company who rents them

Thanks Laura. I didnt want one that was so closed up Sorry if I sound so picky I thought I had seen the ones that just have like white fabric down part of the side, just like a 'flap' type deal...
Good idea to look in the pennysaver. Maybe we'll rent this time and if we like it we can buy...

Thanks !

The walls dont have to stay on-- we have never used it with the walls just the top part
Good luck
I know there is a guy in NJ that rents for $150 for a 20x20 ( I think or something close to that) so you have an idea on price but again companies are more from my experience

Re: Backyard tents ??

my mom bought 2 tents for my sister and my e parties and showers...

she got them at pathmark for $99 each...they are smaller, but you could probably have 40 under the both...the sides close with a bug netting or you can sweep them to the sides...

they left them up all summer last year and liked them so much they decided to build a florida room onto the house!!

but if you rent one...you can get a huge one that you can be sure to fit everyone
